LP, 1 years of experience
Hi, I’m Dr. Danielle Zurawiecki, a licensed psychologist with over 10 years of experience working with children, teens, young adults, and parents. I know how overwhelming life can feel at times, and I’m here to help you or your child feel heard, supported, and empowered to make meaningful changes. I use practical, evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness to help clients manage anxiety, stress, and other challenges. I also work with parents and young children using techniques like Parent-Child Interaction Therapy to strengthen relationships and create more peaceful homes. My style is warm, collaborative, and approachable. My goal is to meet you where you are and work together toward the life you want.
In our first session, you can expect a warm, supportive space where we’ll take time to get to know each other. I’ll ask some questions to better understand what’s bringing you in, what’s been going on in your life, and what you hope to get out of therapy. There’s no pressure to share everything right away. We’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, heard, and understood, and where we can start building a plan that fits your needs and goals.
What tends to stand out about my approach is how I combine evidence-based therapies with warmth, collaboration, and a deep understanding of how systems, like schools and families, impact a person’s well-being. I bring over a decade of experience working within school systems supporting children, adolescents, and parents navigating everything from academic stress and behavioral challenges to mental health crises. This background helps me see the bigger picture and work effectively across settings to support change. Whether we’re using CBT to tackle anxious thoughts, ACT to reconnect with what matters most, or parent-child strategies to improve connection at home, clients often tell me they appreciate how supportive and practical our work feels. And that they leave sessions with tools they can actually use in daily life.
I’m especially well-suited to work with children, teens, and young adults who are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, or unsure of how to manage big emotions or life transitions. I also support parents who want to strengthen their connection with their child and respond to challenging behaviors with more confidence and calm. Whether you’re navigating school stress, relationship struggles, parenting challenges, or just trying to feel more grounded and in control, I’m here to help you move forward in a way that feels manageable and meaningful.
I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients build psychological flexibility. I guide them in developing mindfulness skills to observe their thoughts and emotions without judgment. By focusing on acceptance rather than avoidance of difficult emotions, clients are better able to engage with life in meaningful ways, even in the presence of internal struggles.
In my work with adolescents and young adults, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients recognize and challenge unhelpful thought patterns that contribute to anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. Together, we build skills to reframe negative thinking, develop healthier coping strategies, and set achievable goals. I tailor interventions to be developmentally appropriate and engaging, empowering young people to gain a sense of control over their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
I use Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) to strengthen the parent-child relationship and improve behavior through real-time coaching. I guide parents in using positive attention and consistent discipline strategies while they interact with their child, helping to reduce disruptive behaviors and increase emotional regulation. By building parenting skills in the moment, PCIT fosters more effective communication and nurtures a secure, supportive bond between parent and child. This therapeutic approach is effective for children ages 2-7.
Mindfulness-based therapy helps clients build awareness of their thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations in the present moment. Through practices like mindful breathing, grounding exercises, and guided imagery, I support clients in developing emotional regulation, reducing anxiety, and improving focus. I tailor mindfulness activities to be developmentally appropriate and engaging, empowering clients to respond to stress with greater calm, clarity, and self-compassion.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy helps clients identify their strengths, set clear goals, and build on what’s already working in their lives. I focus on fostering a hopeful, forward-thinking mindset by exploring past successes and highlighting small, achievable steps toward change. By emphasizing solutions rather than problems, I work to empower clients to take ownership of their progress and recognize their own capacity for growth.
