Hello, I am William Ward. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with experience in a range of settings, including outpatient care and law enforcement, which has given me a deep understanding of the complexities people face in different areas of life. I specialize in helping individuals work through anxiety, trauma, and emotional challenges using evidence-based approaches like CBT, DBT, and EMDR. My goal is to provide a compassionate, supportive space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to make lasting changes that align with your personal growth and well-being.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, you can expect a warm, welcoming environment where you’ll be met with openness and understanding. I strive to create a relaxed, nonjudgmental space where you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts, feelings, and concerns at your own pace. While we’ll touch on some background information and discuss what brings you to therapy, the focus will always be on getting to know you—your unique experiences, goals, and what you’re hoping to work on. I believe the first session is about building trust and laying the foundation for a partnership, so the tone will feel collaborative rather than clinical. My aim is for you to leave feeling heard, supported, and clear on the next steps in our work together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths lie in my ability to blend empathy with practical, solution-focused strategies, allowing clients to feel both understood and empowered in their journey toward healing. I prioritize building a genuine, nonjudgmental connection, which fosters trust and openness from the very first session. My approach is integrative, drawing from a variety of therapeutic modalities to tailor treatment to each individual's needs—whether it’s utilizing mindfulness-based techniques for emotional regulation, offering cognitive tools to challenge unhelpful thoughts, or EMDR to overcome past traumas. What sets me apart is my commitment to being fully present with each client, meeting them where they are, and walking alongside them with patience, compassion, and a deep belief in their capacity for growth.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am best positioned to serve individuals who are navigating life transitions, struggling with depression/anxiety, or working through past trauma. If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed by stress, uncertain about your next steps, or burdened by unresolved emotions, I can help you gain clarity and develop healthier ways of coping. Whether you're seeking to break free from negative thought patterns, improve emotional regulation, or rebuild confidence in your relationships, I offer a supportive, compassionate space to explore your challenges and find practical solutions. My approach is tailored to meet you where you are, and together, we can work toward creating meaningful, lasting change in your life.

My treatment methods

EMDR

This therapeutic technique is designed to help individuals process and heal from traumatic memories. In practice, I use guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation to help the brain reprocess distressing memories, reducing their emotional charge and allowing the individual to integrate them in a healthier way. This method can be particularly effective for trauma, anxiety, and other emotional challenges linked to past experiences.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

This is a structured, goal-oriented therapeutic approach that helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors contributing to emotional distress. In practice, I work with clients to recognize unhelpful thoughts, challenge their accuracy, and replace them with more balanced perspectives, while also teaching practical coping strategies to manage symptoms. CBT is commonly used to treat conditions like anxiety, depression, and stress.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

This is a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy that focuses on teaching clients skills to manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and develop healthier coping strategies. In practice, I use DBT to guides clients through techniques such as mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. DBT is particularly effective for individuals with borderline personality disorder, self-destructive behaviors, and emotional dysregulation.
