I meet clients where they are at. We discover what goals are important and I choose varies modalities to assist in getting there. I often give assignments to develop insight and tools to help develop coping skills. There is always psycho education provided around anything we discuss in regard to treatment. The goal is for the client to feel safe and in control.
In the first session I will gather information on the presenting problem as well as symptoms experiencing. I will take some history of symptoms to determine onset. I provide psycho education around any diagnosis as well as on modalities that we will try. I develop a comprehensive treatment plan that addresses all the concerns found during intake. This sets the stage for successful sessions.
