Aloha! My name is Koalani, and I am a LMFT in California. I specialize in anxiety, stress management; life transitions. I have special knowledge in child development, and in maternal/paternal mental health, and will support postpartum challenges and experiences affecting clients and their partners during pregnancy and the postpartum period. I have experience working with children, teens, and adults in schools, hospitals, military installations, and in private practice.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I believe that the therapeutic relationship is fundamental for progress and growth, and that healing happens through relationships that are respectful, vulnerable, and accepting of you as a whole person. During our first few sessions together, I place a large focus on developing the therapeutic relationship, and getting to know you. Initially, we will focus on gathering background information and what brings you to therapy to help me know how I can best support you.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I provide a warm, relaxed, and compassionate environment where my clients feel safe to simply be who they are. I will provide a safe space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences free of judgment.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love helping caregivers navigate pregnancy, parenthood, and postpartum. I also support individuals struggling with anxiety, stress management, and undergoing life transitions--no matter how big or how small they may be.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and commitment therapy views “negative” emotions and experiences as part of life. ACT aims to accept thoughts and feelings without judgment, while helping you to identify and commit to pursuing your values, that which brings meaning and purpose to your life. We will apply mindfulness and acceptance skills to your experiences.

EMDR

Using rapid eye movement or tapping to reprocess disturbing memories, experiences, thoughts, and emotions.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Connecting you to your body and the present moment by practicing breathing exercises, guided meditation, and engaging your senses.
