I am a licensed Social Worker in Michigan. I received my Masters in Social Work from Western Michigan University in 2000. With years of experience, I want my clients to feel heard and seen. Life can feel like a roller coaster. When your up, your up. But when you are down, you can feel many unpleasant emotions and experience situations that negatively impact your mental health and your life. I help clients who want to learn new coping skills, who are ready to improve their mindset, and who want to develop a deeper sense of self which is needed to improve their mental wellness.
In our first session together, prepare to share with me your most impactful events in your life to give an overview of what has brought you to your current state of mind. We can dig into this together.
I have been told that my greatest strengths are I am a good listener and I make my clients feel seen. I value these traits. I am my clients' personal encourager as I like to point out the strengths of my client along the therapeutic journey.
I am a mother and stepmother myself, so parents who are struggling with their role are also ideal for me to work with. In addition, I work well with the individuals who recognize that they are stressed, burned out, and want help getting unstuck in their life. I work well with teenagers who want to receive guidance and are seeking help. My clients want to change and have come to that realization on their on accord.
The connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors is a huge component to how situations can impact your life and how you perceive them. We will use CBT techniques to address this mindset.
I am passionate about incorporating Mindfulness into my work with clients. Putting tools into action are powerful to your therapeutic growth.
My goal is to provide a safe space that consists of compassion and empathy. I will also encourage my clients to use self-compassion to elevate the intensity of their experiences in therapy.
I believe there is a sense of relief and opportunities for growth when a group of individuals come together to learn new skills in the same setting. They not only can learn from the therapist but each other as well.
