New to Grow
Hello, I’m Whitnee Willrich, a Licensed Professional Counselor who is passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges with compassion and clarity. I believe therapy should be a safe, supportive space where you can show up exactly as you are without fear of judgment. In our work together, I focus on helping clients better understand themselves, develop healthier coping strategies, and build stronger relationships. My approach is collaborative, empowering, and grounded in creating meaningful change so you can move forward with greater confidence and emotional well-being. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, navigating a life transition, or simply looking for support and personal growth, I am here to walk alongside you on your journey toward healing.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a comfortable and supportive therapeutic relationship. I understand that starting therapy can feel intimidating, so my goal is to create a space where you feel safe, heard, and respected. During this session, we will talk about what brought you to therapy, the challenges you may currently be experiencing, and what you hope to gain from the counseling process. I may ask questions about your background, relationships, and any important life experiences that have shaped where you are today. Together, we will begin identifying goals for therapy and discuss how we can work collaboratively toward the changes you would like to see in your life. I will also explain my approach to therapy and answer any questions you may have about the process. Most importantly, the first session is about ensuring that you feel comfortable and supported as we begin your journey toward growth, healing, and greater self-understanding.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel comfortable being open and authentic. Many clients share that they appreciate my balance of compassion and accountability. I provide support and understanding while also helping clients challenge patterns that may be holding them back from the life they want. I also bring a unique perspective through my experience as both a therapist and a school counselor. This allows me to support adolescents, adults, couples, and families from a holistic lens, understanding how personal, relational, and environmental factors can influence emotional well-being. My approach is collaborative and practical. I work closely with clients to help them gain insight, develop healthier coping strategies, improve communication, and build stronger relationships. Clients often leave sessions with tools and strategies they can apply in their everyday lives. Above all, I strive to empower clients to better understand themselves, heal from past experiences, and build healthier patterns moving forward so they can create meaningful and lasting change.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I am best positioned to support adolescents, adults, couples, and families who are seeking a safe and supportive space to better understand themselves and navigate life’s challenges. Many of the clients I work with are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma, or major life transitions. I work well with individuals who may feel overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, or uncertain about their next steps but are open to self-reflection and growth. My clients often want to improve communication, strengthen boundaries, develop healthier coping strategies, and build more fulfilling relationships. I also support clients navigating complex family dynamics, blended family relationships, and challenges related to identity, stress, or life changes. As both a therapist and school counselor, I have extensive experience working with adolescents and their families as they navigate academic pressures, social challenges, and emotional development. Whether you are looking to process past experiences, strengthen your relationships, or simply gain clarity and tools to manage life more effectively, I strive to create a collaborative and empowering environment where meaningful change can occur.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. In my practice, I work collaboratively with clients to identify unhelpful thinking patterns and replace them with healthier, more balanced perspectives. Through practical tools such as thought restructuring, coping strategies, and behavioral exercises, clients learn how to manage anxiety, depression, and stress more effectively. My approach is supportive and empowering, helping clients build skills they can continue using outside of therapy.
Cognitive Processing (CPT)
I use Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to support individuals who are working through trauma and the impact it has had on their beliefs about themselves, others, and the world. In sessions, I guide clients in examining how traumatic experiences may have shaped unhelpful or painful thought patterns. Together we work to challenge and reframe these beliefs in a way that promotes healing and emotional freedom. My approach is compassionate and paced according to each client’s comfort level, ensuring they feel supported as they process their experiences.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
My work often incorporates Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, which centers on helping clients identify their strengths and build practical strategies for change. Rather than focusing only on problems, I help clients clarify their goals and recognize the resources they already have to move forward. Through thoughtful questions and collaborative planning, clients leave sessions with clear steps they can take toward the life they want to create.
Structural Family Therapy
When working with families, I draw from Structural Family Therapy to understand how family roles, boundaries, and communication patterns impact relationships. I help families identify dynamics that may be contributing to conflict or disconnection and work with them to create healthier structures and interactions. My goal is to strengthen family relationships while helping each member feel heard, respected, and supported.
Couples Counseling
In couples counseling, I create a safe and neutral space where partners can openly explore their concerns, strengthen communication, and rebuild connection. I help couples identify patterns that may be creating conflict and guide them in developing healthier ways to communicate, resolve disagreements, and support one another. My approach balances accountability and compassion while helping couples rediscover the strengths in their relationship and move toward a more fulfilling partnership.
