My role and responsibilities as a PMHNP entail assessing, diagnosing, treating, and managing chronic or acute mental health illnesses across the life span (child, adolescent and adult). Prescribing medication. Assessing physical and psychosocial well-being. Providing emergency mental health care. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals. Educating communities on mental health concerns. Providing therapy to individuals, groups, couples, and families.

I am motivated by a desire to serve and help others. I have empathy and compassion. I can work in work in stressful environments because I have a strong work ethic. I also have strong communication skills that help lower the risk of misunderstandings or errors in patient care. I am knowledgeable in my area of health care, making me responsible for creating a treatment plan for patients and being knowledgeable helps ensure high-quality patient care and safety.
I am best positioned serving adolescent and adult clients with mood disorders such as depression or bipolarity, anxiety problems and phobias and psychotic disorders. General psychiatry is usually treated, as a general rule, with adults who have some type of severe mental pathology. Adolescent psychiatry is a little challenging, delicate and fragile type of population, with differential characteristics that require a more delicate treatment. It is also one of the types of psychiatry in which they will always need contact with parents or legal guardians, as well as with school institutions.
I explain to the patient the stags of grief and the importance of going through grief.
I engage pts in CBT utilizing the 9 techniques especially the deep breathing techniques, cognitive restructuring and journaling.
