If you are struggling with issues such as substance use, narcissistic abuse, anxiety, self-harm, disordered eating, trauma, grief or depression having the self-compassion to seek help is a powerful first step. I believe that compassion is the key to helping us along our healing journeys. My goal is to work with you develop a compassionate path out of old thoughts, old habits and old behaviors toward your happy, joyous and free authentic self. When you feel as though your old ways of coping are no longer working, I am here to help you develop new skills, perspectives and confidence in the change you create based on my 9 years of experience. I collaborate with you to create a strengths based personalized path to recovery using a variety of methods including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Compassionate Inquiry, Solution Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

A first session with a therapist can trigger anxiety and there are lots of questions people have. Questions like, "Will they expect me to tell them everything?", "Are they judging me?", and "What if I don't know what to say?" To put you at ease, in our first session we will just be getting to know each other and identifying areas we want to work on. I will share with you the interventions that I use, expectations for me and you in the therapy process and how we can work together. I feel that therapy is a partnership and that my role is to provide you with tools and space to help you find solutions that are the best fit for you. Please feel free to share what feels comfortable and know that you are in control of your story and I will not force you to answer questions you are not ready to share about. The most important part of a first session is to make sure that we are a good fit and if not, I will do my best to find clinicians who are best suited to your needs.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Working with me clients will find that my biggest strengths are empathy, compassion, humor and patience. I understand that working through difficult issues like substance use, disordered eating, trauma, anxiety and depression is challenging and that healing is not always a point A to point B process. I will give you the space to explore, at your own pace, the areas you want to heal and where you want to flourish.

My treatment methods

Compassion Focused

For several years I have been using compassion focused therapy to help clients break free of their trauma and shame related to traumatic experiences. Clients will learn to use self compassion to become free from negative self talk, destructive behaviors and relationships and find peace within themselves.

Polyvagal Therapy

For several years I have been using polyvagal therapy interventions to help clients with anxiety, depression and mood disorders reconnect mind, body and spirit. You will learn tools ranging from heart massage to calming kits to give you a natural and effective means to cope with anxiety, depression and mood swings.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Having studied and used DBT in my practice for nearly a decade, I use this tool to help clients connect with their core strengths. Using mindfulness, self compassion and radical acceptance clients will find tools and strengths to recover from narcissitic abuse, childhood trauma and face daily stressors with calm and confidnce.
