I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s degree from the University of Central Florida. I have experience using psychodynamic skills including cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy. I use client-centered and solution-focused interventions and help with exploring healthy coping mechanisms. I have experience with diverse populations and issues, including adults, children/adolescents, veterans, and families dealing with homelessness, acute mental illness, depression, life stressors, and trauma. My approach helps you feel empowered and promotes a goal-oriented mindset.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

As your therapist, I offer a safe space for adolescents and adults who are ready to make this tough decision and help you feel empowered. During our first session, is an opportunity to establish a therapeutic relationship and lay the groundwork for our collaborative journey toward your goals. This is done by completing a questionnaire and an assessment of presenting problems.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a solution-focused therapist, I get excited about helping others find their voice and change unhealthy habits.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have 9 years of experience using this modality. CBT is most commonly used in my practice to help increase a positive outlook and challenge negative thoughts. CBT is a goal-oriented and practical approach, meaning we'll collaborate on developing specific strategies and skills to address your challenges. You'll learn to recognize and modify automatic negative thoughts, develop coping mechanisms for difficult emotions, and experiment with new behaviors. Throughout the process, we'll also focus on identifying patterns and triggers, helping you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your reactions. CBT is often structured and involves homework or exercises between sessions to reinforce the skills learned.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I have 7 years of experience using this modality to manage anxiety and depression-related symptoms. In our sessions, we'll explore mindfulness techniques to help you become more aware of your thoughts and emotions as they arise. By doing so, you can develop a greater understanding of how your mind works and how your thoughts may influence your feelings and behaviors.

Motivational Interviewing

I utilize this modality in many sessions to help clients feel empowered. "Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative and client-centered counseling style designed to help you explore and resolve any ambivalence or mixed feelings you might have about making positive changes in your life. Instead of imposing solutions or advice, the focus is on helping you identify and express your own motivations for change. In our sessions, I will actively listen to your thoughts, concerns, and goals. I'll work to create a safe and supportive space for you to openly discuss your experiences without judgment. The goal is to understand your perspective, values, and desires related to the changes you're contemplating.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused Therapy is like a roadmap for creating positive change in your life. Instead of dwelling on problems, we'll focus on your strengths, resources, and the solutions that can help you reach your goals. It's all about looking forward and finding ways to build the life you want. We'll explore what's already working for you and how we can use those strengths to overcome challenges. By envisioning the future you want and taking small steps, we can create a path towards a more fulfilling and satisfying life. It's a collaborative and empowering process, and your active participation in setting and achieving your goals is a key part of it.
