Angela Tweed
I specialize in addiction, anxiety, and depression treatment. I have spent my career helping people change and sustain that change. It's my job to help you explore what keeps you stuck and how to create momentum to live a life aligned with who you truly are.
Reaching out for help is only the first step in making lasting AUTHENTIC change in your life.
From starting out as an outreach worker, to spending the last 12+ years working in inpatient and outpatient addiction and mental health treatment, I have built a foundation answering these very questions.
First session
When you sign up for your first session, time goes quick- it is all about getting to know what to expect from the process of therapy. We'll get to know each other a little, discuss your history, some of the main goals, and set the scene for future meetings.
Strengths
My approach is grassroots and supportive; we start where you are at and build from there. Are you feeling at a loss, down on yourself, and stuck repeating the same stories over and over? Starting therapy means that we work as partners to find the pathways to healing. Without sacrificing precious time to judgement or the "shoulds" of the past- we can discover that the life you deserve is right there waiting for you.
Ideal clients
You already did the hardest step; you allowed for the possibility that things could improve, held onto that hope, and reached out for help. Instead of telling yourself you would do it another day or leaning into the excuses we both know you had ready- you clicked on the scheduling button and made this happen. Come as you are, together we'll take it from there.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use a blend of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and MI (Motivational Interviewing) to explore the connection (or disconnection) between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
