About me

I firmly believe that one of the bravest steps a person can take is beginning to understand their own story. Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, leaving you unsure of where to start and stuck in a cycle of frustration or self-doubt. If this resonates with you, please know that you’re not alone. I am a licensed mental health counselor with over 15 years of experience, including a decade in independent practice. My approach is collaborative and tailored to your unique strengths, with a strong emphasis on creating a safe, supportive space where your voice is heard and your goals guide the process. At the heart of my practice is the belief that your story matters. Together, we can navigate challenges, build resilience, and create space for healing and growth.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, we’ll begin with brief introductions, then explore the specific challenges you’re facing. This helps me create a plan tailored to your needs for our follow-up sessions. My goal is for you to leave feeling comfortable and confident that we’ve begun building a strong, positive rapport, which I believe is the cornerstone of a successful therapeutic relationship. I also aim to create a safe and supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to take the next steps in your journey. In future sessions, we’ll work collaboratively to explore patterns, identify goals, and develop strategies that align with your values and priorities. You can expect a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where we focus on practical tools, personal growth, and meaningful progress at your own pace.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My approach involves helping clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to their mental health obstacles. CBT is a structured, goal-oriented form of psychotherapy. It is based on the concept that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected. By changing negative thought patterns and behaviors, clients can improve their emotional state and overall well-being. In my practice, the initial phase involves a thorough assessment to understand the client's specific issues, history, and goals. I work collaboratively with the client to set clear, achievable goals. I also work to help clients identify their cognitive distortions, challenge their negative thoughts, and develop healthier though patterns. I assist with coping strategy development and provide empowerment with the goal being that self-efficacy and self-awareness increase.

Motivational Interviewing

n my practice, I use motivational interviewing as a collaborative and client-centered approach to support change. I help clients explore their own motivations, values, and strengths while gently guiding them through ambivalence. By asking open-ended questions, reflecting their thoughts, and affirming their progress, I create a safe space where clients feel empowered to make decisions that align with their goals.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

In therapy, I use ACT to help clients become more present with their thoughts and emotions while learning not to let those experiences control their choices. I guide clients in identifying what truly matters to them (their values) and then support them in taking meaningful steps toward those goals, even when uncomfortable thoughts or feelings show up. Through mindfulness, acceptance strategies, and value-based action planning, I help clients build psychological flexibility so they can live more fully and authentically.
