New to Grow
Hello, my name is Brandon Freeman, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in New Jersey. I have been practicing since 2017 after earning my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. Over the years, I’ve gained experience working with both children and adults in a variety of settings, including community mental health, private practice, and partial care programs. I have also co-led substance use groups and supported clients through a wide range of challenges. In my work, I utilize a combination of Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and other evidence-based approaches to support clients in overcoming challenges and creating meaningful change. I strive to be an ally in each client’s healing journey by providing a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space. I have experience working with a diverse range of clients, including young children, adolescents, couples, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. My goal is to provide guidance and support as individuals navigate everyday stressors, personal struggles, and major life transitions.
During our first session, I take the time to get to know you and better understand what you hope to achieve in therapy. My priority is to provide a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment where we can work together to create a personalized plan for your growth. Together, we will explore your goals, identify potential barriers, and develop strategies to help you move forward in your healing journey.
My strengths as a therapist include creating a safe and welcoming environment where clients feel heard, supported, and respected. I am skilled at building strong therapeutic relationships and meeting clients where they are in their journey. I draw from multiple evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based practices, which allows me to tailor treatment to the unique needs of each individual. I am strengths-based in my work, helping clients recognize their own resilience and resources as they navigate challenges. My ability to remain empathetic, nonjudgmental, and collaborative allows clients to feel empowered to set meaningful goals and take actionable steps toward growth. I am also adaptable and experienced in working with diverse populations, including children, adolescents, adults, couples, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
My ideal client is someone who is motivated to make changes in their life but may feel unsure of where to begin. They might be struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating a major life transition. They are open to exploring their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and are willing to try new strategies that can help them move forward. My ideal client values a supportive, collaborative, and nonjudgmental therapeutic relationship and is ready to build on their strengths to create meaningful change. I especially enjoy working with individuals who are looking to better understand themselves, develop healthier coping skills, and create a more balanced and fulfilling life.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to support my clients in understanding the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I work collaboratively with clients to identify unhelpful thinking patterns and core beliefs that may be contributing to their challenges. Together, we explore ways to reframe negative thoughts, build coping strategies, and practice skills that can be applied outside of session. I often incorporate tools such as journaling, thought records, and behavioral experiments to help clients strengthen these new skills in real-life situations. By using CBT, I aim to empower clients to recognize unhelpful cycles and develop healthier, more balanced ways of thinking and responding.
I use Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to help clients identify their strengths and build on the resources they already have to create meaningful change. I focus on what is working in their lives and explore their preferred future, rather than spending extensive time on problems. In sessions, I ask goal-oriented questions that invite clients to envision the changes they want to see and the small, practical steps that can move them closer to those goals. I highlight exceptions—times when the problem is less intense or not present—and encourage clients to build on those successes. By using SFBT, I aim to create a collaborative and empowering space where clients can discover solutions and develop confidence in their ability to move forward.
I use Mindfulness-Based Therapy to help clients develop greater awareness of their thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations in the present moment. I guide clients in practicing nonjudgmental awareness so they can observe their experiences without becoming overwhelmed or reactive. Through mindfulness exercises such as breathing techniques, grounding skills, and guided meditations, I support clients in cultivating calm, focus, and self-compassion. I also encourage clients to integrate mindfulness practices into their daily routines, allowing them to build resilience and reduce stress. By incorporating mindfulness, I aim to help clients create space between themselves and their struggles so they can respond with clarity rather than react out of habit.
