(she/her)
Hi, I’m Janis. For the past 17 years, I’ve helped people work through life's challenges, heal from difficult experiences, and create meaningful change. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist, I work with adults facing anxiety, depression, stress, substance use concerns, life transitions, relationship difficulties, and feelings of being stuck or overwhelmed. I understand that reaching out for help can be difficult, and I strive to create a safe, supportive space where you can be yourself. I believe every person has strengths they can build upon, even during their most challenging seasons. Together, we'll identify what's holding you back, develop practical coping skills, and work toward goals that matter most to you. You don't have to figure everything out alone. I'm here to support you every step of the way.
In our first session, clients can expect a safe, nonjudgmental space where we’ll discuss your goals and challenges. I’ll take time to understand what’s been going on in your life, what’s been working, and where you feel stuck. Together, we’ll begin to identify the underlying factors that may be contributing to your current challenges. From there, we’ll start building a plan tailored to your needs, exploring coping strategies and tools to help you make positive changes. My goal is to help you feel heard, supported, and clear about the next steps toward improving your well-being.
I believe my greatest strengths as a provider lie in my ability to build trust and create a safe, compassionate environment for clients to explore their challenges. With 17 years of experience, I bring a deep understanding of how to help individuals navigate difficult emotions, such as anxiety, depression, and overwhelm. I’m skilled at identifying underlying issues and tailoring my approach to meet each person’s unique needs. My clients often tell me that they feel truly heard and understood, and that’s something I’m proud of. I also have a strong ability to help clients develop practical tools for creating lasting change, whether that involves addressing unresolved trauma or shifting maladaptive coping patterns.
Sometimes people are motivated for change but don't know where to start or the tools that once worked no longer seem effective. Those are my people. I help individuals navigate challenges like anxiety, depression, and overwhelm, offering the support and strategies needed to create lasting positive change and greater life satisfaction. This may also include addressing unresolved trauma or maladaptive coping patterns.
I identify as
EMDR
I have been trained in and have practiced EMDR with clients since 2010. EMDR is an effective way to process trauma and typically takes significantly less time than traditional talk therapy.
Strength-Based
We are more than the symptoms we experience. Supporting people in seeing their lives as a whole and utilizing skills and characteristics they feel secure in helps increase effectiveness of therapy.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
ACT supports clients in gaining greater psychological flexibility through exploration of values, practicing mindfulness, accepting challenges, and working toward change.
Collaborative Management and Assessment of Suicidality (CAMS)
CAMS provides a structured and realistic way for me to work with people who experience suicidal thoughts. This structured intervention provides a safe space for people to openly discuss their thoughts and to dig into what drives those thoughts.
Couples Counseling
Utilizing the Gottman Method which is a couples therapy approach that helps improve communication and strengthen relationships.
