LPC, 10 years of experience
Hi, I'm Ashley! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Georgia. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Florida State University and my Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling/Marriage and Family Counseling from the University of Central Florida. I have over 10 years of counseling experience in multiple different settings working with adolescents and adults.
Starting your first therapy session can feel overwhelming, but it is a positive and courageous step towards a better YOU. Be proud of yourself! What to Expect: 1) Getting to know you: your personal history, relationships, any symptoms you are experiencing, and what you hope to get out of therapy. 2) Setting goals: start to discuss and define your goals - whether it is managing anxiety, healing from trauma, improving relationships, or gaining self - understanding. Tips for Preparing: 1) Reflect on why you're seeking therapy - a few bullet points or journal some thoughts can help you feel more grounded when talking. 2) Think about your goals - even if you are unsure that is okay - we can explore this together. 3) Be honest - therapy works best when you are open about your thoughts, even if they feel uncomfortable or unclear. 4) Bring questions.
I have training in cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and solution focused approaches. I will tailor treatment around your needs, focusing on identifying your strengths and help you maximize them to overcome your obstacles.
My areas of specialty include depression, anxiety, anger, self-esteem, relationship stress, parenting, trauma, and interpersonal difficulties.
I work best with clients who are open to self-reflection and curious about the "why" behind their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I always encourage my clients to dig a little deeper. You don't need to have it all figured out - just a desire to grow, heal, and move towards a more authentic version of themselves.
