I am Dr. Valerie Zanders and I look forward to working with you. In addition to my extensive clinical training, I have achieved the highest level of education, earning my doctoral degree in psychology. This accomplishment further enriches my clinical skill set and offers my clients expertise in behavioral analysis as I work with them to understand the root of problematic thoughts which can, in turn, impact their emotions and behaviors. I am also trained in complex trauma and employ my expertise in this area to help my clients understand how a multifaceted trauma narrative can impact their decisions and choices daily. Further, I strive to help my clients understand the interconnectedness of mind, body, and emotions, helping them propel forward on their journey to actualizing a healthier and more fulfilling life. Other accomplishments that contribute to my skills and expertise include my extensive research work. I am a published researcher and have had the privilege of working alongside other thought leaders in the area of complex trauma. As such, I am apprised of the current findings and treatment trends in addressing complex trauma. I look forward to putting these skills and expertise to work for you.
In the first session, clients can expect to meet with a listening and empathic ear. They can expect a therapist who is ready to hear and understand their experiences, challenges and the direction and vision that they have for their lives. In subsequent sessions, clients can expect to work toward a greater level of insight and self-awareness that can be transformative in the journey forward.
One of my key strengths is my exceptional listening skills. I work to hear what my clients are verbally expressing as well as raising my clients' awareness about the interconnectedness of their words, thoughts, and feelings and the impact of these on behavioral choices.
