I am a licensed independent social worker, LISW. I have been practicing in the social work field for over 20 years. I have worked with many populations including, children, adults and older adults. I utilize several counseling techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy and motivational interviewing. The modality choice will depend upon your needs and your comfort level. I would love to hear from you and help you to attain your treatment goals.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session I will want to get to know more about you. I will ask several questions including the reason that you reached out for therapy, your goals for yourself and therapy and your background so that I can best understand where you are and what I can do to help you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am a great listener. I am versatile and can be your sounding board, your guide and/or your motivator. I want to help you achieve your goals and will do so without judgement.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I specialize working with teens, adults, older adults and individuals who have been diagnosed with anxiety, phobias, depression, personality disorders, PTSD and bipolar disorders.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I like to use CBT when working with clients who have anxiety, OCD, trauma and different phobias. I often use CBT combined with other modalities to get the best result. CBT works best when clients are willing and able to complete homework and are working towards a specific goal.

Motivational Interviewing

I use motivational interviewing when clients are having a hard time reaching their desired goals or are unable to identify their goals despite their struggles. This methodology helps clients understand their role in their treatment and helps them to recognize what is needed to improve.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I use this treatment modality when clients have a specific problem that they want to solve. We discuss the problem, their options and other avenues that they have already attempted to come up with the best possible solution to their problem. The client and the counselor will work through the problem hopefully until the problem has been resolved.

Supportive

I use this modality when the client just needs a sounding board and some guidance. This modality is often most effective for long term clients who have a lot of day to day struggles and need the extra support.
