(she/her)
Hi, I’m Lori Vasquez, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner providing medication management and supportive therapy for adults across California via telehealth and in-person visits. I specialize in ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma, and mood instability. My approach is collaborative, evidence-based, and practical — helping you reduce symptoms, improve focus and emotional regulation, and regain stability. I focus on clear diagnoses, thoughtful medication management, and realistic treatment plans that fit your life.
Your first visit is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. We’ll review your symptoms, history, previous treatments, medical background, and goals. If appropriate, we’ll discuss medication options, therapy strategies, or both. I take time to explain diagnoses and treatment choices clearly so you feel informed and confident — never rushed or pressured. By the end of the session, you’ll have a clear understanding of next steps and a personalized plan tailored to you.
Clients value my balance of clinical precision and compassionate care. I conduct thorough diagnostic assessments to ensure we are treating the right condition — especially when symptoms overlap (such as ADHD vs. anxiety or bipolar vs. depression). I use evidence-based medication management and practical therapy tools to create measurable improvement. My goal is not just symptom relief, but better focus, emotional stability, healthier relationships, and long-term resilience.
I work best with adults who want clarity, structure, and meaningful progress. Many of my clients struggle with ADHD symptoms, anxiety that interferes with work or relationships, mood instability or bipolar, feeling “stuck” despite prior treatment. I am especially well-suited for professionals, students, and high-functioning adults seeking accurate diagnosis and thoughtful medication management. If you’re ready for a collaborative, goal-oriented approach to your mental health, I’d be honored to work with you.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
My approach emphasizes collaboration and understanding. I work with clients to create personalized care plans focused on symptom management and improving quality of life. I prioritize evidence-based practices and take a holistic approach, integrating therapy, medication management, and lifestyle changes. I tailor treatment to each individual's needs, whether facing acute crises or ongoing challenges, and work at a pace that feels comfortable for the client.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I integrate DBT skills into treatment to help clients build healthier ways of coping with distress, managing emotions, and improving relationships. My experience with DBT comes from working with individuals facing mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, and difficulties with emotional regulation. I focus on teaching practical tools such as mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. In sessions, I tailor DBT strategies to fit each client’s unique needs—whether that means learning grounding techniques to manage anxiety in the moment, or developing communication skills to navigate conflict. My approach emphasizes balance: validating a client’s current struggles while also encouraging change and growth. Over time, DBT can help clients feel more in control of their emotions, reduce impulsive behaviors, and create a more fulfilling, stable life.
Motivational Interviewing
I use Motivational Interviewing to help clients explore their own reasons for change in a supportive, non-judgmental way. My experience with MI includes working with individuals navigating depression, anxiety, substance use, and lifestyle challenges where ambivalence about change is common. Rather than telling clients what they “should” do, I focus on asking open-ended questions, listening deeply, and reflecting back their own strengths and values. This collaborative process empowers clients to resolve internal conflicts, build confidence, and take steps toward meaningful change at their own pace. By reinforcing personal autonomy and self-efficacy, MI helps clients transform uncertainty into motivation, leading to more sustainable progress in their mental health and overall well-being.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I incorporate Solution-Focused Brief Treatment to help clients identify strengths, resources, and practical solutions that can create meaningful change in the present. My experience with SFBT includes supporting clients dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, and life transitions who are looking for clear, actionable strategies rather than long-term exploration. In sessions, I guide clients to recognize what’s already working, set achievable goals, and take small, concrete steps toward improvement. This approach is highly collaborative and empowering, encouraging clients to focus on possibilities and progress instead of problems. Over time, SFBT helps individuals gain confidence, build resilience, and move toward the future they want with clarity and direction.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help clients create a healthier relationship with their thoughts and emotions, while moving toward what truly matters in their lives. My experience with ACT includes working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and life stressors where rigid thought patterns or avoidance often get in the way of growth. In sessions, I guide clients through mindfulness practices, values exploration, and acceptance strategies that reduce the struggle with difficult emotions. Rather than trying to eliminate every uncomfortable feeling, ACT helps clients learn how to live meaningfully alongside them—making choices based on values rather than fear or avoidance. Over time, this approach fosters greater flexibility, resilience, and fulfillment.
