(she/her)
Hi! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Texas. I have 17 years of experience working with children, teens, and adults. Most clients I work with seek therapy to work on anxiety, depression, stressors, and life transitions. I use a variety of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. My goal is to help clients process difficulties, learn effective coping skills, and heal in order to improve their emotional health and well-being. ***I offer virtual sessions and in office sessions, upon request.
Beginning therapy can certainly be intimidating for anyone. Providing a safe, non judgmental space so my clients can feel at ease and comfortable is of utmost importance to me. I always ask clients to view the first session as a friendly chat where I am getting to hear a bit of their story, learn more about them and what brings them to therapy. I’ll review the information the client provides me and develop an individualized treatment plan where I set goals tailored to their specific needs. During the next session, I present this to the client and we review it together. Therapy is very much a collaborative effort where I take the client’s input to guide their sessions as they are the expert on themselves.
One strength I pride myself in is being able to meet people in the emotional space in which they need me. I will never force a client to talk about something if they don’t want to or are not ready to just because they noted it on intake paperwork. If a client brings a difficult subject up during one session but they do not want to discuss it during the next session, that’s okay! We can focus on something else and revisit that later if needed. I genuinely listen to my clients, pay attention to their needs, and focus my energy on helping them meet their goals.
My clients seek therapy because they are experiencing difficulties and are wanting to improve their quality of life. It might be an overworked mother, a stressed college student, or a teen struggling with low self-esteem. Trying to juggle school, work, and relationships when not feeling your best can be a challenge. I work to offer my clients the support and guidance they need to develop the tools and healthy coping skills to navigate it all. I can work with people who are trying therapy for the first time or those that have been in therapy before. My goal is to meet my clients where they are emotionally and help get them where they need to go.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT works as it encourages individuals to explore the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. This is ultimately how we experience the world. We think, we feel, and we act. It is important to understand how to improve one’s quality of life by increasing self-awareness to this relationship.

Karla has been an incredible part of my healing journey. She creates such a warm, safe, and supportive space where I feel truly seen and heard. Her compassion, insight, and ability to gently guide me through difficult moments have been life-changing. I’ve grown so much with her help — emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. After each session, I leave feeling lighter, stronger, and more hopeful. I’m endlessly grateful to have found Karla. She’s truly a gift.

Karla related to me and made me feel heard. She didn’t pry too deep when she noticed I was uncomfortable. She’ll be my forever therapist.
