Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. The first session is primarily focused on rapport building and history gathering, which essentially involves learning more about you, your personality, values, perspectives, & treatment goals, which we will develop together during our first session. The first session may last approximately 50-60 minutes, and the goal is for me to learn as much about your life story during that time, in addition to giving you the opportunity to provide further elaboration on your presenting concerns and background. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strengths as a provider are my integrative approach & skillset, which provides me the ability to be flexible and appropriately adapt to the therapeutic needs of my patient. Although patients may present with similar presenting problems, I do not treat any two people exactly the same and my therapeutic approach is tailored to each individual based on their personality, interests, & clinical need. My sessions tend to be very interactive, engaging, and collaborative with a touch of humor and fun as appropriate. I enjoy learning just as much from my patients as they learn from me and offer a safe, secure, trusting, & judgement free zone to my patients where they can be their true authentic selves and say whatever is on their mind, as they will get the same in return from me.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Due to my vast amount of training and experience, I am positioned to serve various individuals from diverse populations, communities, and backgrounds, who may present with an array of life stressors and mental health challenges. I have a great deal of experience providing psychological services to those from minority and underserved communities, who may initially be reluctant to seek these services, but quickly develop an appreciation for the value of such services throughout their therapeutic experience. I typically suggest "therapeutic homework assignments" that are often brief & enjoyable in nature, but also challenging with the purpose of encouraging the patient to engage in some deep self-reflection, critical thinking, & cognitive reframing and learning to view situations and people from various perspectives.
