New to Grow
Anyone can change, anyone can heal, anyone can grow. I have spent over 25 years committed to this belief and committed to helping individuals along their way. My true passion is helping those who have a history of trauma and helping them learn how it has impacted their lives. Empowering individuals take their power back from whatever it is that they have survived. Trauma is such a vague word, and many things can fall into that category. No trauma is too severe, or too insignificant. Additionally, I specialize in helping people identify the areas where they are stuck and help them take charge of their lives. I enjoy helping individuals build their self confidence and discover more of who they are. I am a licensed counselor in Pennsylvania. My Bachelor’s and master’s degrees are both in Professional Counseling from Toccoa Falls College and Liberty University. I have spent the majority of my career working with adults from all walks of life. Making people feel safe and comfortable is utmost priority for me. I have an eclectic approach using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Person Centered. I have trauma informed and focused on all my interactions no matter what approach is being used. Additionally, I am certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
We will review some housekeeping things like confidentiality. I would like to spend some time just getting to know you. I can lead the conversation, or you are free to discuss whatever is on your mind. I would always like to know if you have had therapy before, and if you did what worked or didn't work for you. If you have never had therapy before what are you hoping to gain from your time with me.
My strengths are that I have worked in a agency full time for 13 years that is solely working with people who have a history of some type of trauma, so it's an area that I'm very comfortable with. Additionally I have a history of working with people who have a variety of struggles with addiction.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
This is the treatment method that I use most frequently. Identifying negative thought patterns, evaluating them for their truthfulness, and reframing thoughts that are more true and helpful.
Cognitive Processing (CPT)
I have been trained and certified in CPT. While I can go through the structured therapy I often pull pieces from the outline, including replacing negative thoughts. Additionally identifying and overcoming stuck points in thinking.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I have been trained and certified in DBT. I use various techniques from this therapy especially the different points of Radical Acceptance.
Eclectic
i use a variety of theories, potentially in a signal session, including pieces of client centered and reality therapy. The approach fits the needs of the individual.
Christian Counseling
My education is in Christian counseling, and I can incorporate Christian truths into sessions. This is only if this belief system is shared by the person that I am working with.
