Education and Credentials I began my academic journey in 2003, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. In 2018, I completed my Master of Arts degree in Counseling at Wake Forest University. This program is accredited by the American Counseling Association’s Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), the nationally recognized agency for counseling graduate programs. Theoretical Orientation My counseling approach integrates principles from Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. In each session, I strive to create an environment characterized by unconditional positive regard, empathy, and genuineness. I am dedicated to guiding clients through the exploration of their feelings and thoughts, and collaboratively developing solutions. Together, we will craft a plan that addresses your immediate needs and supports your long-term growth and well-being. Counseling Background My professional journey began in nursing, where I recognized a significant gap in holistic healthcare, particularly in mental health. This realization motivated my transition to counseling, where I aim to make a lasting impact on my clients’ lives. I bring over 12 years of experience and specialized training in various areas, including Grief and Loss Counseling, Trauma Counseling, Premarital Counseling, and Group Counseling. My background includes working with terminally ill patients, military members and their families, individuals with alternative sexual lifestyles, trauma survivors, and the LGBTQ+ community. Additionally, I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), enhancing my ability to support clients through trauma and other mental health challenges. By combining my diverse background and extensive training, I am committed to providing compassionate, effective, and personalized care to each of my clients.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, it’s all about getting to know each other. This is your opportunity to learn more about me, and for me to understand a little about you. Our conversation will be a two-way street, ensuring that you feel empowered to express yourself openly and ask any questions you may have. My goal is to help you develop a sense of comfort and trust from the very beginning. I understand that sharing personal details with someone new can be daunting. Rest assured, I respect the fact that you might not be ready to disclose everything right away. You will never be blindsided with difficult questions. Instead, we’ll take things at your pace, focusing on creating a safe and supportive environment where you can feel heard and understood. By the end of our session, my hope is that you will feel more at ease and confident in our therapeutic relationship, setting the foundation for meaningful and productive work together.
