David Krakowski
I’m a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in helping adults overcome stress, anxiety, or OCD. I graduated from Columbia School of Social Work and have extensive training in multiple evidence-based treatments. My approach is active and collaborative, with an emphasis on building skills that you can apply in your daily life. In our work together, I focus on helping you better understand how your mind operates and equipping you with practical and effective tools to deal with your mental health more effectively.
Break free from anxiety!
Over time, clients often find that they are able to feel calmer, think more clearly, and respond to challenges with greater confidence. Rather than feeling controlled by anxiety, they begin to experience a greater sense of freedom, balance, and control in their lives.
Ideal clients
I tend to work best with individuals who are high-functioning on the outside, but internally feel overwhelmed by stress, anxiety, or constant overthinking. They are thoughtful, motivated, and hold themselves to high standards. They often find themselves caught in patterns of worry, self-doubt, or pressure to achieve unrealistic goals. Even when many things in their life are going well, they struggle to find their peace and calm. The clients who benefit most from this work are those who are looking not just for support, but for practical tools. They are interested in understanding how their mind works and are willing to learn and apply skills to manage their mental health effectively.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a practical, evidence-based approach that helps you understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Many people struggling with stress, anxiety and other mental health issues find themselves caught in patterns of overthinking, self-doubt, and avoidance. CBT helps you step out of these cycles. In our work together, we will identify the thought patterns that contribute to your distress—such as excessive worry, harsh self-criticism, or worst-case thinking—and learn how to respond to them in a more balanced and realistic way. We will also look at the behaviors that may be keeping anxiety going, such as avoidance or reassurance-seeking, and gradually work toward more effective ways of coping. CBT is active and collaborative. Rather than only talking about problems, we focus on developing practical skills that you can use in your daily life. Over time, this helps reduce anxiety, increase confidence, and create a greater sense of control.
Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is a specialized, evidence-based form of therapy that is highly effective for treating anxiety and obsessive-compulsive patterns. Many people find themselves stuck in cycles of fear, avoidance, or repetitive behaviors that are meant to reduce anxiety—but ultimately keep it going. ERP helps break that cycle. In our work together, we will gradually face the situations, thoughts, or feelings that trigger anxiety in a way that respects your autonomy and feel doable. At the same time, you will learn to reduce the habits that reinforce your anxiety—such as avoidance, checking, reassurance-seeking, or mental rituals. Over time, this allows your mind and body to learn that anxiety can rise and fall on its own, without needing to be controlled. ERP is active and collaborative. We move at a pace that feels challenging but manageable, and each step is designed to help you build confidence in your ability to handle discomfort. As you practice these skills, anxiety will go down in frequency and intensity and you will regain control over your life. The goal of ERP is not to eliminate anxiety completely, but to help you respond to it differently—so it no longer dictates your decisions and you can live more freely.
