Hi there, I'm Tonya. Do you feel like you need someone to talk to but feel like no one understands you? Carl Rogers said, “We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. I am committed to creating a space where the client feels seen and heard. I have a unique counseling style that allows clients to quickly engage in the therapeutic process. Helping clients find a deeper understanding of themselves is my focus. I guide the client through their journey of self-awareness with cognitive restructuring combined with a person-centered approach. Do you feel overwhelmed and mentally depleted? Our thoughts, emotions, and behavior are guided by our internal compass. Sometimes we need to check our compass and make sure we are going in the right direction. This internal compass is the lens through which we see ourselves, and the world and influences our decisions. A shift in the thought process opens the door for healing and clarity of thought. I'm here to help. Seeking therapy can feel scary but you're making the right choice. You deserve a safe space to heal and grow. In our sessions together, I'll meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can gain the self-awareness you need to work through your struggles and move forward with your life. Let's work together!
I specialize in guiding individuals through major life transitions, helping them heal, rebuild confidence, and move forward with clarity and strength. My counseling approach is supportive and engaging, helping clients feel at ease as they begin their journey. I integrate cognitive restructuring with a solution-focused approach to foster self-awareness, resilience, and meaningful change. With experience in both nonprofit and corporate settings, I bring compassion, emotional intelligence, and practical strategies to support clients from diverse backgrounds in reaching their goals
I enjoy working with teenagers ages 15-18 who are trying to find their place in this world and who are not comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings. I enjoy working with women and men of all ages. (18-99).
We do not have to be defined by our trauma. Gaining deeper insight into our thoughts can become the catalyst for greater self-awareness, helping us uncover the root of unproductive patterns and opening the door to healing and growth.
Together, we will identify your challenges and goals - where you want your life to be a month, six months, a year from now. Then, we'll identify options and strategies you can use to get there. You'll leave the session with a better understanding of what you're facing with an "actions I can take right now" approach. There will always be room for suggestions concerning our work together, including keeping each other accountable.
We have a great responsibility as managers of our own minds. The thoughts we choose to embrace as truth shape how we see ourselves and how we relate to others. In counseling, I help clients learn to take control of their thoughts—an empowering process that can improve mood, foster self-awareness, and lead to more productive and fulfilling behaviors.
Facing our fears rather than running from them allows us to discover our inner strength and move beyond the places where we feel stuck. I walk alongside clients on this journey of acceptance, helping them find peace and empowerment along the way.
