With over 15 years in community mental health, I specialize in supporting individuals experiencing trauma, grief, relationship challenges, substance use, and emotional pain such as sadness, anxiety, and depression. I use a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive approach that centers healing, growth, and self-connection. I am a licensed clinical social worker, certified in addictions, and trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). I help clients develop coping tools, set boundaries, and build insight into their emotional patterns. My practice creates space to process pain and reclaim your voice—free from judgment or shame. Clients often come to me when they are: Struggling with trauma or complex PTSD Experiencing grief or life transitions Navigating difficult relationships Working through substance use or recovery Feeling disconnected, emotionally stuck, or overwhelmed Outside of therapy, I serve as Vice President of Behavioral Health for a child welfare organization, operate a private practice, and teach in social work programs. I hold a BSW and MSW from Florida State University and a Doctor of Social Work from the University of Tennessee–Knoxville. I also serve on the Statewide Dependency Court Improvement Panel, and boards for NAMI Pinellas and the Pinellas Black Health Equity Alliance, advocating for mental health access and equity. I believe healing starts when we stop being silent about our pain. Therapy is a space where you can develop skills, feel empowered, and begin to live in alignment with your truth. “If you are silent about your pain, they’ll kill you and say you enjoyed it.” — Zora Neale Hurston

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

You’ll have space to share what brings you to therapy, what you hope to gain, and any past experiences—both helpful and harmful—that may inform your expectations. I’ll ask questions to better understand your story, strengths, and the systems you move through. Together, we’ll begin to co-create goals and explore what healing and empowerment might look like for you. This is a collaborative space, guided by empathy, curiosity, and a deep respect for your lived experience.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Assisting clients in establishing boundaries, excessing their power, and creating space for individuals to feel empowered to not over-value the dominant cultural paradigms. “If you are silent about your pain, they’ll kill you and say you enjoyed it.” ― Zora Neale Hurston

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with individuals who are seeking to heal from trauma, navigate systems of oppression, and reclaim their voice. My ideal client is motivated for change, open to self-exploration, and ready to challenge dominant cultural narratives that no longer serve them. Whether navigating identity, burnout, boundary-setting, or personal empowerment, they are ready to build a more authentic life. I especially welcome professionals, community advocates, and leaders who hold space for others and are now ready to hold space for themselves.

Dr. Peters accepted and acknowledged me for where I was in my journey. Through observation, she was able to diagnose me with Bipolar Disorder and I was able to get treatment from a psychiatrist, who is managing my medications. She has me reflecting deeper into myself and helped me discover my inner self. Since starting therapy with Dr. Peters, my life has improved mentally, emotionally, financially, physically and psychologically. She is truly one of the most important person in my life.
