Hi! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) living in Texas. I have been practicing for 7 years, mostly with adolescents and young adults in a high school setting. It is my goal to help teens navigate relationships, stress, anxiety and any other struggles that they may have. If you are looking for someone to help your teen open up about what is going on in their life, and are willing to give them the love and time to grow. I believe I can help.
In our first session, we will begin by getting to know a little bit about each other. I will ask some basic background information. When working with clients who are underage, I will include the parent/guardian in the first session in order to get some information from them as well and explain a bit about how I treat confidentiality. Going from there, I will ask what goals the parent/guardian and client has for the counseling/therapy sessions.
As a provider, I am proud of my ability to build relationships quickly with my clients. I have a background as an educator and that has given me a foundation for building those therapeutic relationships. I believe that very little progress can be made towards goals or life changes if the trust between client and therapist is not there. Additionally, I am not afraid to stop and adjust goals along the way if it feels like we are aiming too high or too low, or if something comes out in a session and it becomes apparent that we should address it further.

Reality therapy tells us that we are seeking to fill one of five buckets in our lives, survival, love/belonging, power, freedom and fun. I believe that this main idea, paired with other methods of exploring our experiences can help us to better understand what it is we are missing and how we can work towards filling the gap. Especially with teenagers and young adults, feeling out of control and at the mercy of our emotions can be a burden no one wants to work through. I want to help.
I have done most of my work in the culturally diverse heart of Houston, TX and I believe that the members of those groups are still unique and diverse within that group. It is not my job to learn about the group, but the individual in my therapeutic care in order to give the best treatment possible for that person.
