Hi! I'm a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) (Professional Mental Health Therapist) based in Minnesota. I received my Masters from Walden University, a psychology degree from Brandman University and have been practicing in mental health for almost 8 years. I am passionate about wellness & offering a holistic, strengths-based approach to therapy and to customize sessions to meet each individuals' needs. My goal is to provide a safe, relaxing space for clients to help them reach their goals. My approach is compassionate, holistic, person and solution focused. If a client needs to address past issues or past core beliefs, then we will also explore this in a psychodynamic, trauma-informed way at your pace. I have previously worked as an in-home skills & therapy practitioner for adults and kids, a clinical supervisor/assessor at an autism center, a clinical supervisor for in-home programs, and as an adult and child case manager for the counties.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

My hope is you walk away from the first session with hope! Hope in your heart that things can and will get better in your life or that you feel you have a safe, calm, judgment free place to figure things out, talk, or find some answers. The first session is a diagnostic assessment, but this can wait until the second session if needed or you are not comfortable to do so yet. The first session is mostly to get to know you better, to know your goals, and for you to get to know me. It is a time to ask questions and let me know what your goals and needs are.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Since I have been through mental health issues and trauma myself, as well as some close family and friends of mine, I feel I can really relate to clients on a deeper level and provide a safe, warm, calming space for clients to process and figure out what is going to help them best to heal, recover, or get through hard times. I really want to help clients find their inner strength, build up their toolbox of healthy coping strategies that work for them and everyone is unique in that and learn to turn their mess into messages or their hardships into stepping stones for the future.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am ready to help anyone with a variety of issues, stressors, diagnoses, disorders, etc. I am trained and experienced to help all ages and populations. I enjoy helping with parent-child relationships, adults, individuals and children/teens of all ages. I am trained to diagnose 0-5 years olds and treat them. I also diagnose autism and ADHD. I do not see families or couples at this time.

My treatment methods

Christian Counseling

I am a practicing Christian, and open to seeing people of all faiths and backgrounds. I am open to using scripture or a Christian perspective in counseling/therapy as desired and directed by the client. I am open to helping others from all faiths and those without religious preferences, even those who do not want any included.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Sometimes part of our role as therapists is to help clients accept what cannot be changed, or accept parts of themselves or their situations and acceptance can help bring healing and change or transformation. I have worksheets also.

Mind-body approach

The mind-body is a holistic approach where we can talk about the connection between mind and body, different strategies to release tension from the body and mind, and worksheets on this topic or activities depending on the client's needs and desires for this approach. Diet and exercise. I am also trained in EMDR therapy.

Child Parent Psychotherapy

I use it daily in practice and for myself. My practice centers around a mind, body and spirit approach, but I meet the client where they are at and go from there. I want you to fee comfortable.

Trauma-Focused CBT

I have taken many trainings on this topic of trauma and always learning. I have experienced trauma personally and feel I can relate to others. I have worksheets on it and use CBT in my practice daily. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life. I am also trained in EMDR, another therapy form for trauma.
