Monay Wadsworth

LICSW (she/her)8 years of experience

Hey, there. My name is Monay. I want you to know, there is hope. I believe that one of the ways in which self-empowerment is achieved is through the sharing of one's story. Asking for help is a courageous act that shows great strength and desire for change. I have seen so many people suffering in silence while carrying their burdens by themselves, feeling isolated and trapped in their daily struggles. Life was not something we were meant to journey through alone and sometimes inviting someone into your story, through therapy, can be incredibly helpful to find your way forward. The joy of my work is coming to know my clients through these complex stories and collaborating while using a lens of self-compassion growth and tranquility. I take a person-centered, client-led approach to therapy. I focus on adolescents through adulthood, with a special emphasis on young adults. You deserve a safe space created to be able to just “grow... with the flow”. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker residing in Washington DC with over 8 years of experience. I have worked with adolescences, young adults, adults and my families. My background varies from crisis intervention, community-based work, working with those with severe mental illnesses, group therapy settings, inpatient and outpatient settings, individual, and family psychotherapy.

First session

Each session is intended to honor your specific needs and goals. In our sessions together, I'll meet you with compassion while providing a safe and interactive environment to navigate difficult subjects, deep seated trauma, or to just say the things you never thought you would say out loud. Additionally, I provide tools to help foster healthy relationships with others and within self. It takes a lot of humility and courage to decide to seek therapy. I welcome the opportunity to walk with you on your journey towards healing and empowerment. Seeking help should be celebrated.

Strengths

One of the hardest parts of the therapeutic process is choosing the right therapist for you as therapy is about feeling seen, accepted, and heard. There is no one size fit-all approach to therapy. While creating a collaborative therapeutic relationship we will work to figure out what is best for you.
