New to Grow
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) with a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Houston–Victoria. My professional background includes extensive experience working with both the State of Texas and nonprofit organizations, supporting individuals who are seeking to improve their lives and overcome personal challenges. I have had the privilege of working with clients throughout the lifespan—including children, adolescents, teens, and adults—addressing a broad spectrum of mental health concerns such as anxiety, trauma, depression, stress, and abuse. I am deeply committed to guiding clients through their healing journeys and empowering them to achieve personal growth and emotional well-being. I believe that trust is the cornerstone of an effective therapeutic relationship. I prioritize creating a safe, confidential, and supportive environment where clients can feel secure and valued. My approach is grounded in empathy, respect, and a genuine understanding of each individual's unique needs. I utilize evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed Care, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. My counseling style is open-minded, compassionate, and non-judgmental. I am passionate about helping clients navigate life’s challenges and look forward to supporting each person on their path to healing and self-discovery. In addition, I value collaboration with families, healthcare providers, and community resources when appropriate to support comprehensive care. I strive to help clients build healthy coping skills, strengthen resilience, improve communication, and develop greater self-awareness. My goal is to empower each client to recognize their strengths, overcome obstacles, and create meaningful, lasting changes in their daily lives.
During your first counseling session, we will spend time getting to know each other and discussing what brings you to counseling. This is a safe, supportive, and judgment-free space where you can share at your own pace. We will review confidentiality, discuss your goals, and explore ways counseling can support your emotional, behavioral, or personal growth. You do not have to have everything figured out before starting therapy. The first session is simply the beginning of building trust, understanding your needs, and creating a plan together to help you move forward toward healing, confidence, emotional wellness, and positive life changes.
My greatest strengths include compassion, active listening, evidence-based interventions, building trust, empowering growth, and fostering resilience.
I am best positioned to serve children, adolescents, adults, and elderly clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, grief, behavioral concerns, emotional regulation difficulties, and life transitions. I provide a supportive, structured, and goal-oriented approach that helps clients build coping skills, improve communication, strengthen resilience, process difficult emotions, and promote emotional wellness, stability, and personal growth across all stages of life.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I help clients identify negative thought patterns, challenge distorted beliefs, and develop healthier coping behaviors. In practice, CBT focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors through structured interventions, skill-building, problem-solving, and goal-oriented strategies to improve emotional and behavioral functioning.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I use Solution-Focused Therapy by helping clients identify strengths, set achievable goals, and focus on solutions rather than problems. I encourage clients to recognize past successes, build on existing coping skills, and develop practical steps toward positive change and improved functioning.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients develop skills in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness. DBT supports clients in managing intense emotions, improving relationships, reducing impulsive behaviors, and building healthier coping strategies for daily functioning.
Trauma Informed Care
I use trauma-informed care by creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment that recognizes the impact of trauma on behavior and emotional functioning. I prioritize trust, empowerment, collaboration, and emotional safety while helping clients build coping skills, resilience, and healthy responses to stress and past experiences.
