Hello, I’m Esdena Lacina, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with a deep commitment to helping individuals navigate life’s most challenging moments.
First session
Our first session is all about getting to know you—your story, your challenges, and your goals. I’ll begin by asking questions to better understand what brings you in, your current symptoms or concerns, your personal history, and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy or treatment. This session is a safe, judgment-free space where you can speak openly and at your own pace. You don’t have to have all the answers or know exactly what to say—just showing up is a powerful first step. We’ll also discuss how I work, answer any questions you have about the therapy or medication process, and start to build a plan together. Whether you’re interested in talk therapy, medication management, or a combination of both, we’ll tailor the approach to fit your unique needs. By the end of the session, you’ll have a clearer idea of what our work together might look like—and most importantly, you’ll leave knowing you don’t have to go through this alone.
Strengths
One of my greatest strengths is my ability to combine compassionate listening with evidence-based clinical expertise. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I bring a holistic perspective that considers both the emotional and biological aspects of mental health. I’m skilled at building trusting relationships where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. I focus on creating individualized treatment plans that integrate therapy, medication management, and psychoeducation, ensuring that each person receives the right balance of support. My approach is collaborative and flexible, adapting as you grow and your needs change. I’m particularly experienced in working with clients facing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and sleep difficulties, helping them achieve meaningful and lasting improvements in their quality of life. Above all, I’m committed to walking alongside you with empathy, patience, and hope as we work toward your goals.
Ideal clients
I work best with individuals who are ready to explore their emotional well-being with honesty and openness—even if they’re not sure where to start. Many of my clients are navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, insomnia, or life transitions, and they are seeking not just symptom relief, but deeper understanding and sustainable growth. My ideal clients may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected, but they’re also curious, motivated to heal, and open to trying new strategies. Whether you’re looking to better understand your mental health, improve your sleep, process a loss, or develop healthier coping skills, I’m here to walk that journey with you—compassionately and without judgment. Together, we’ll work to build resilience, restore balance, and help you reconnect with a more grounded, empowered version of yourself.
Treatment methods
Psychoeducation
Psychoeducation is a therapeutic tool that involves giving patients clear, understandable, and helpful information about their diagnosis, symptoms, causes, treatment options, and coping strategies. The goal is to help patients better understand what they’re going through so they can actively participate in their recovery.
Grief Therapy
Grief therapy is a specialized therapeutic process that supports individuals coping with a significant loss, most often the death of a loved one, but also losses such as divorce, illness, job loss, or major life transitions. It is not about “getting over it”, but about helping the person move through grief in a healthy, meaningful, and integrated way.
