Our first therapy session is primarily focused on establishing a strong foundation. My primary aim is not to "solve" anything but to build rapport, gather essential information, understand the client's goals, and set a trusting, non-judgmental tone for the therapeutic work ahead. I am a true believer that no work can be done unless a client feels safe and comfortable and our first meeting is usually dedicated to just that.
I utilize deep compassion and professional expertise in combination to guide clients through difficult struggles. In a safe and trusting space e build together, work is done to uncover innate strengths and equip clients with the tools to build a more fulfilling and self-directed life.
A client who is committed to their growth is an active participant in their therapy, demonstrating motivation, introspection, and a genuine desire for change. They see therapy not as a passive fix but as a collaborative process where they are responsible for their own progress.
This approach is structured, goal-oriented, and time-limited in nature. Therapy focuses on the connection between a person's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and helps clients develop practical skills to change unhelpful patterns and facilitate growth.
I recognize and respectfully engages with the cultural backgrounds, values, and beliefs that a client brings into the session. This perspective helps me to tailor interventions to each client's unique context and aids to build a stronger therapeutic alliance and leads to more effective, personalized care.
I recognize the widespread impact of trauma and seek to tailor all aspects of my practice to be sensitive to a client's trauma history. This framework shifts the perspective from "What's wrong with you?" to "What happened to you?". The core goal is to provide a safe, collaborative, and empowering environment that minimizes the risk of re-traumatizing the client.
This approach is used to help clients identify and resolve interpersonal issues contributing to their distress by improving communication skills and social functioning, the goal is to alleviate psychological symptoms.
