Have you gone through difficult events and are not feeling as good as you used to? I’m Kai and I empower individuals who have experienced continuous stress to get in touch with their strengths, move toward healing, and have a renewed sense of agency. I am attuned to ways thoughts, feelings, and body sensations become misaligned and can support you in a shift toward more positive experiences in these areas. My practice of strengths-based and EMDR techniques helps you transform depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other mental health issues, so they become less challenging. I provide individual therapy for adults and teens and my practice is completely online.
In our first session you can ask me questions about the process of therapy, what I provide, or anything you might like to know before beginning. I go over details of informed consent and then ask a lot of questions about your life and what issues you have been facing. You are welcome to share as much or as little as you want. We briefly touch base about how therapy might work for you, given your specific needs, and make a plan to discuss goals for therapy at the next session.
Trauma- I specialize in dealing with both the immediate impact of a traumatic event and navigating life when one has been exposed to continuous traumatic events. I am dedicated to practicing EMDR, which specifically addresses trauma. EMDR helps people access a natural healing process so that they can move on from traumatic experiences. Some issues I have helped people resolve through EMDR include bullying, attachment trauma, sexual abuse, physical abuse, and witnessing gun violence. Teens- I have extensive experience providing therapy to teens in schools and specialize in positive identity development at this phase of life. In my role in schools, I have helped many young people evaluate their lives and move in preferred directions. School can be daunting for young people dealing with mental health concerns. I am a great advocate and understand how to help parents navigate school systems so that adults at school function more effectively on behalf of young people. Through therapy, I help teens develop practices that will support their mental well-being throughout life.
People who have experienced trauma, have depression, anxiety, or PTSD.
We do not always have the capacity to fully process difficult events as our mental, physical, and emotional systems become overwhelmed. We may develop unwanted symptoms such as flashbacks, fear, and sadness related to these unprocessed experiences. As a certified EMDR therapist I help clients restore brain function and greatly reduce the symptoms that developed because of negative events.
