Greetings, my name is Nicole Whitley, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Certified Grief Counselor (GC-C). Through years of higher education, hospice experience, along with personal experience, my passion is to work with individuals, families, couples, and children, struggling through grief and loss. Many associate the grief process only with the passing of a loved one, however, grief is also experienced with a divorce/separation, loss of a job, a newly diagnosed terminal illness, life transitions, etc.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the grieving process, many people do not take the time needed to process and heal from their loss. During our time together, expect to be equipped with insight as to how your grief/loss has impacted you, your relationships, decision-making abilities, etc. You can expect to gain increased knowledge of the grieving process. Lastly, you will gain the inner strength, learn practical coping tools, restore hope and peace to begin to live your life again, this time in a healthy way. Grief is a journey, let’s partner together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength is being able to identify patterns, thought processes and maladaptive behaviors that holds one back from evolving into the best version of self. Many of my clients express that I am easy to talk with, relatable, a great listener and also provides valuable feedback.

My treatment methods

Grief Therapy

In my treatment modality, I incorporate grief therapy to help clients process loss, whether it be the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or other significant life changes. I provide a safe space for clients to explore their emotions, offering tools such as journaling, mindfulness, and somatic techniques like yoga to aid in emotional regulation. I utilize psychoeducation to help clients understand the stages of grief and guide them in developing personalized grief care plans. My approach is client-centered, allowing individuals to move through their grief at their own pace while fostering resilience and healing.
