What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first visit, patients can expect several things: 1. Virtual Setting: The visit will take place remotely through videoconferencing or teleconferencing software. Patients will need a computer or a smartphone with a stable internet connection. 2. Intake Assessment: I will start by conducting a comprehensive intake assessment, similar to an in-person visit. I will ask about the patient's medical history, current symptoms, any current medications, and relevant personal information. 3. Privacy and Comfort: Patients should find a private and quiet space for the session to ensure confidentiality. I may also encourage the patient to situate themselves comfortably to facilitate open communication. 4. Discussion of Concerns: I will discuss the patient's main concerns or reasons for seeking treatment. This includes exploring symptoms, potential causes, and any related factors affecting the patient's mental health. 5. Collaborative Treatment Plan: Based on the assessment, I will work with the patient to develop a treatment plan. I may recommend therapy, medication, lifestyle adjustments, or a combination thereof. The patient's input and preferences will be taken into consideration. 6. Medication Management: If medication is prescribed, I will go over the details, including the purpose, potential side effects, and dosage instructions. I will also address any questions or concerns the patient might have. 7. Next Steps: I will discuss the next steps, potential follow-up appointments, and the frequency of treatment. I may also provide resources or recommendations for additional support, such as therapy services or support groups.

The clients I care for are often experiencing a range of symptoms, including mood changes, difficulty managing emotions, intrusive thoughts, hallucinations or delusions, difficulty with relationships, self-harm behaviors, and problems with daily functioning. My treatment methods

Motivational Interviewing

I utilize motivational interviewing techniques to engage and empower my patients in their treatment journey. I firmly believe in the collaborative nature of the therapeutic process and strive to create a non-judgmental and compassionate environment for my patients. Rather than imposing my own agenda or prescribing rigid instructions, I ensure that I understand their perspective, concerns, and goals. By actively listening and reflecting their thoughts and feelings, I aim to build a strong therapeutic alliance and instill a sense of autonomy in their decision-making. Ultimately, motivational interviewing allows me to support and motivate my patients in making positive changes in their medication adherence and overall mental well-being. By fostering a trusting and collaborative relationship, I have witnessed how this approach helps individuals take ownership of their treatment plan, leading to improved outcomes and a greater sense of empowerment in managing their mental health.

Multicultural

In my practice, I apply multicultural theory to provide holistic and culturally sensitive care to all my patients. Recognizing that individuals come from diverse backgrounds and hold unique beliefs, values, and customs, I actively incorporate this understanding into my treatment approach. I ensure that my practice is inclusive and respectful of different cultural perspectives. This entails fostering an open and non-judgmental environment where patients feel comfortable discussing their cultural background, traditions, and experiences without fear of stigma or bias. I strive to create a space where individuals can freely express their cultural identities, allowing me to better understand their unique mental health needs.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Using CBT techniques, I help patients identify and challenge negative or distorted thought patterns contributing to their emotional distress or dysfunctional behaviors. By carefully examining these thoughts and beliefs, we explore alternative perspectives and introduce more balanced and accurate thinking patterns. Through specific strategies, such as cognitive restructuring, I assist patients in reframing negative thoughts and embracing more constructive and adaptive ways of thinking.
