Greetings, my name is Zekecia Bennett, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I am a Florida native with over fifteen years of experience in social work. I earned my bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of South Florida and my Master of Social Work from Walden University. I love the therapeutic process and have a strong desire to empower others by enhancing their well-being through psychotherapy.
As a licensed clinical social worker, I believe that compassion, empowerment, and respect for each other will act as a catalyst for change. I am delighted to be a part of this journey with you!
As a licensed clinical social worker, my greatest strengths are communication, motivation, and honesty.
CBT focuses on challenging and changing cognitive distortions (such as thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes) and their associated behaviors to improve emotional regulation and develop personal coping strategies that target solving current problems.
Acceptance and commitment therapy invites people to open up to unpleasant feelings, not to overreact to them, and not to avoid situations that cause them.
DBT help people increase their emotional and cognitive regulation by learning about the triggers that lead to reactive states and by helping to assess which coping skills to apply in the sequence of events, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to help avoid undesired reactions.
Motivational interviewing (MI) is a person-centered strategy. It is used to elicit patient motivation to change a specific negative behavior. MI engages clients, elicits change talk and evokes patient motivation to make positive changes.
Psychoeducation offered to patients and family members teaches problem-solving and communication skills and provides education and resources in an empathetic and supportive environment.
