Depression, anxiety, grief and other life changes can prevent you from living a productive life. If you're finding that it has become more difficult to cope with life. If you're feeling overwhelmed. If your problems are interfering with the ability to have positive relationships, perform at work or school, or complete daily task, then I can help you. I can help you develop the right tools and strategies needed deal with current issues and also help you to be better equipped in the future. Over the years, working as a mental health professional, I have helped various types of clients and have come to realize that everyone is able to develop strategies and skills needed to solve their problems. My practice focuses on short-term therapy techniques that can help you reduce stress, cope better, deal with grief and handle other life challenges.
In our first session, we will start with introductions and continue with questions needed to complete the intake. I will ask about your past therapy history and your goals for therapy. I generally ask everyone in the first session to describe to me what they want to look like when therapy is over. By the end of the session I'm usually able to formalize a treatment plan and talk about what that will look like. I close the session by scheduling the next appointment visit.
I've had years of experience working with individuals with, depression, anxiety, grief, and self-esteem issues and feel that these are the areas where I do my best work. As a therapist I'm able to pull from my toolbox of therapeutic interventions to assist clients with their individual treatment plan. Also, as a EMDRIA trained EMDR therapist I have helped a number of clients process trauma which reduces the levels of stress and anxiety.
I help men aged 25 to 65 who are struggling with relationship issues rooted in early life traumas, often stemming from a difficult relationship with their parent, which leads to anger and being perceived as the problem in their current relationships. Using CBT and EMDR, I help clients address maladaptive behaviors, process early life trauma and negative self-talk, and learn to set healthy boundaries while saying "No"; without guilt. Through our work together, my clients will gain control over their lives, confidently express feelings, build safe, vulnerable relationships, and experience improved self-esteem, better sleep, and greater happiness. I'm experienced working with BIPOC and LGBTQ communities.
I have been an EMDR trained therapist for almost 3 years and have done over 250 EMDR sessions with over 100 clients. If you are trying to rid yourself of a negative belief you believe about yourself like "I'm not good enough or I'm a bad person", EMDR will help you to change that negative thought into one that's positive, allowing you to feel better about yourself, which will positively impact how you show up in life. You might've had a traumatic event or traumatic childhood that hunts you and you're finally ready to deal with it. EMDR is effective in aiding clients to process trauma. I always tell clients that EMDR is good because your brain does all the work. I will not be asking you about your feelings regarding the trauma but, instead will be guiding and directing you through the 8 phases of EMDR. You will be able to process the memory and replace the negative thought or cognition with one that is positive.
