New to Grow
Welcome! My name is Christina Davis, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a passion for helping children, teens, adults, and families build healthier, more fulfilling lives. My professional background includes years of experience in community mental health, where I have worked with diverse populations facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral concerns, emotional regulation difficulties, and family stressors. I earned my master's degree in counseling from Capella University and my Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree with an emphasis in Play Therapy from the University of Mississippi. I believe that every individual has unique strengths, and I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, valued, and supported. Through a blend of play therapy, cognitive behavioral interventions, person-centered techniques, and strengths-based approaches, I work collaboratively with clients to foster healing, growth, and lasting positive change.
During your first session, we will focus on getting to know one another and discussing what brings you to therapy. I will gather information about your concerns, background, strengths, and goals while providing a safe space for you to share at your own pace. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and learn more about how therapy works. Together, we will begin creating a plan to help you move toward your goals and build on your strengths. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, supported, and hopeful about the work we will do together.
My approach to therapy stands out because I balance compassion and support with honest feedback and accountability. I strive to create a warm, trusting environment where clients feel safe, heard, and understood, while also gently challenging patterns, beliefs, and behaviors that may be preventing growth. I believe meaningful change often requires both validation and the willingness to examine difficult truths, so I am not afraid to respectfully push back when it serves a client's goals and overall well-being. By combining evidence-based interventions, creativity, authenticity, and a direct yet supportive therapeutic style, I help clients gain insight, build resilience, and create lasting change in their lives.
I am best suited to serve children, adolescents, and young adults who are experiencing challenges related to anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional regulation, behavioral concerns, self-esteem, social difficulties, and life transitions. With my background in community mental health and specialized training in play therapy, I particularly enjoy working with children and teens who benefit from creative, developmentally appropriate interventions that promote emotional expression and growth. I also work effectively with families seeking support in improving communication, strengthening relationships, and navigating behavioral or emotional concerns. My approach is especially beneficial for clients looking for a compassionate, collaborative therapist who focuses on building resilience, developing practical coping skills, and fostering lasting positive change.
Other specialties
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify the connections between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Through CBT, clients learn to recognize unhelpful thinking patterns, challenge negative beliefs, and develop healthier ways of responding to difficult situations. I work collaboratively with clients to build practical coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and increase confidence in managing life's challenges.
Cognitive Processing (CPT)
Through CPT, I work collaboratively with clients to identify and challenge unhelpful beliefs that may have developed following trauma, such as thoughts related to safety, trust, power and control, esteem, and intimacy. Clients learn to examine how trauma has influenced their thinking and develop more balanced, adaptive perspectives that support healing and growth.
Motivational Interviewing
Through open-ended questions, reflective listening, affirmations, and collaborative goal setting, I help clients identify their values, resolve ambivalence, and build confidence in their ability to make meaningful changes. Rather than directing clients toward a specific outcome, I work alongside them to discover their own reasons for change and develop a plan that aligns with their goals.
Play Therapy
I utilize play therapy to help children express thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a developmentally appropriate manner when they may not yet have the words to communicate them effectively. Through play, creative activities, storytelling, and therapeutic games, children can explore emotions, develop problem-solving skills, improve emotional regulation, and process difficult life experiences.
