New to Grow
Hi, I'm Abbey! I'm a licensed clinical social worker in California. After four years of working in substance abuse treatment, I have been excited to expand the ways I can support people in their healing journeys by starting a part-time private practice. For a year and a half, I have been working with clients to provide both long-term, ongoing mental health support and short-term, solution-focused therapy with maintenance sessions provided as needed.
My approach centers on creating a space where you can truly be yourself. Clients often tell me I have a way of making them feel at ease, even when discussing the hardest parts of their lives. I love to individualize my approach for each client to figure out what works for them and I have experience utilizing cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, motivational interviewing, internal family systems, and narrative techniques. My years in substance abuse treatment taught me that healing isn't linear and that everyone's path looks different. Whether you're navigating addiction, trauma, relationship challenges, or life transitions, I bring patience, warmth, and a deep respect for your resilience.
Humans are story-telling creatures! The stories we tell ourselves about ourselves have a huge impact on our mental health. The core principle of narrative therapy is “the person isn’t the problem, the problem is the problem.” My goal is to partner with you in changing your relationship with your problems so that you can make the changes you want!
