I am Dr. Jamie Marshall licensed in Michigan with over 25 years of professional work experience. I hold a Doctorate Degree in Counseling and Psychology and a Masters Degree in Counseling. I have worked with individuals from all walks of life, my goal is to meet you where you are and give you the tools that you need to be successful with your healing. In addition I would like to build a therapeutic relationship, to help you identify your personal strengths to help you navigate through life, and allow you to be the best person you can be and to make your life more enjoyable.
Clients can expect a safe and welcoming environment where they can freely express their thoughts and feelings. During the first session we will discuss your goals for therapy, gather some background information and start to build a therapeutic relationship. I feel that it is very important to establish rapport and trust in order to work towards a positive outcomes in therapy.
My greatest strengths as a Professional Counselor include empathy, active listening, and the ability to provide support and guidance in a non-judgmental manner. I also have strong communication and the ability to create a safe and comfortable space for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings. Additionally, I am dedicated to ongoing learning and professional development to ensure that I am providing the best possible care for the clients I work with.
I utilize evidence-based psychotherapy that aims at addressing the needs of Individuals with post traumatic stress disorder and other difficulties related to traumatic life events.
I utilize Emotionally focused therapy (EFT): this therapy helps improving the attachment and bonding between you and your partner. My goal is to the couple understand and change patterns that lead to feelings of disconnection.
I encourage my clients to journal about their thoughts throughout the day and recording their feelings about their thoughts.
