In my practice, I strive to let my clients be in the driver's seat while I act as their guide. I aim to meet you where you are. I am both supportive and challenging in my approach, empathic while also encouraging you to look at things from different perspectives. I work with clients around various issues, including: depression, anxiety, insomnia, masculinity and men's issues, relationship and marital issues, stress related to medical issues, and adult ADHD. I am also fluent in Spanish. I have experience working in inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as medical settings. My belief is that you know yourself best, and I can help guide you to a more fulfilling and enriching life.
Clients can expect to get to know me, as well as me get to know them. They can expect most of the session to focus on information and history gathering, and to delve more into the specific issues if time permits.
I'm a big believer in teaching coping skills early on to get you feeling better sooner. I utilize evidenced-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. I can help you look at how your thoughts and feelings impact your mood and your relationships.
My strengths are in allowing you to make the most of the time we have in session together. You are the expert on yourself, and I strive to honor that while helping you grow and challenge yourself at the same time. My varied experience in different settings has helped me flexible and adaptable in my approach, and I want to tailor the sessions to your needs.
