I have worked at the intersection of mental health and chronic illness for the past 12 years by providing support and therapy. I work closely with people who are dealing with a variety of challenges like depression, anxiety, or who are struggling with chronic health conditions. I graduated UPENN in 2009 with my Masters of Social Work. When not working I might be found hiking with my dog, hanging out with friends and family, playing board games, or making homemade ice cream.
I take a person centered approach with the hope to understand you within your environment. I believe each of us can only be understood within our full context and I believe deeply in the transformative power of relationships. I take an active and conversational approach during sessions.
During sessions I stay present focused- reflecting on the past and understanding it can help, but I am most interested in what is happening right now. To that end I use techniques from motivational interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Behavioral Activation. I believe that it is through action goals are achieved and mood is managed.
I work closely with individuals struggling with chronic conditions or who are in the midst of major life transitions that need to figure out the next step.
