Hello, my name is Maria Olinka Tristan and I have been a therapist for eleven years. I'm a Licensed Professional Counsellor (LPC) based in Texas. I received my Masters from the University of Texas in San Antonio. I am here to help people in their healing journey. I work with individuals going through life transitions, difficulty coping, grief, loss, infertility and stress.
In our first session together, we'll start by introducing ourselves. I will gather more information in regard to the challenges that bring you here. This will help us design the best treatment plan for us your therapy journey.
I have worked with several populations in the past eleven years. I've gained deep perspective in various situations. Which have developed my compassionate and empathetic personality. Thus, helping me support my clients through their healing journey.
I have been working with diverse populations for over 14 years. I have experience living in three different cultures. I have taken several cultural competency courses. As I speak two languages I have been able to expand my world and have different outlooks.
I have done person-center since the beginning of my career. I allow the client to have the space to be truly them without any judgment. The safe space allows the client to find their voice and empowers them to be congruent in therapy and eventually outside of therapy.
I have worked with several clients whom have experienced different types of grief. I have supported clients who have been through miscarriage, loss of a partner, loss of parents or friends. Clients going through infertility or loss of relationships.
I have worked with several clients who have experienced trauma for over twelve years. I have been through several trauma informed classes and trainings. I make sure I come from an informed and compassionate place when working with trauma.
I work with clients to better their relationships with others. Support clients on using their voice, being more effective when asking for their needs, discuss respectful ways to listen while also holding firm to their boundaries.
