About me

I am a licensed psychologist with more than 30 years of experience helping adults navigate emotional distress, relationships, major life transitions, and questions of meaning and purpose. I work especially well with adults and older adults who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, loneliness, grief, aging, marital difficulties, or existential concerns. My approach is warm, thoughtful, and conversational. I want therapy to feel like an honest human encounter. I listen without judgment and offer observations and questions that can help you see patterns that may be keeping you stuck. I believe meaningful change begins when people feel genuinely understood and safe enough to speak openly. In addition to psychotherapy, my professional background includes supervising clinicians, facilitating men’s support groups, and working extensively with individuals and families affected by developmental disabilities. I welcome clients from diverse cultural, spiritual, and religious backgrounds.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

With an individual, I focus on understanding the person's history, concerns, relationships, strengths, and goals. With a couple, I remain balanced and want each partner to feel heard while identifying patterns of communication, conflict, and disconnection. In every situation, my approach is warm, respectful, collaborative, and adapted to the unique needs of the people in the room.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I bring warmth, patience, curiosity, and many years of both professional and life experience to my sessions. I am comfortable sitting with difficult emotions, including shame, grief, loneliness, fear, anger, regret, and uncertainty about aging or the future. My style is supportive but active. I will listen closely and give you room to explore, but I will also ask direct questions and respectfully challenge patterns that may no longer serve you. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all formula. Together, we will develop an approach that fits your personality, values, culture, relationships, and goals. Clients can expect me to be genuine, engaged, and nonjudgmental. I use insight, compassion, and appropriate humor to help people understand themselves more clearly and make practical changes in their lives.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is an adult who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, loneliness, grief, relationship difficulties, or a major life transition. I especially enjoy working with people who are facing the challenges of aging, questioning their direction or purpose, or struggling with existential concerns about meaning, mortality, and how they want to live. I work best with clients who are curious about themselves and gradually examine the patterns, relationships, and experiences shaping their lives. My goal is to help you understand yourself more deeply, strengthen your relationships, manage painful emotions, and move toward a life that feels more meaningful, connected, and authentic.
