Clients say this provider is
My name is Lindsay, I am a licensed mental health counselor with over 7 years of experience helping clients learn more about themselves and the world they live in. I pay special attention to the therapeutic relationship in addition to helping clients learn tangible skills to manage difficult times. I believe it is vital to understand a person's context in order to understand the ways they have grown to live in their environment. I have expertise in working with individuals who have experienced trauma or are justice involved, though I am open to working with anyone who is looking for support no matter the presenting issue. I have worked with individuals from varied backgrounds and identities and I appreciate the importance of considering cultural context in the therapy space.
The goal of the first session is to help us both get to know each other. You can expect me to ask many questions about your background, your current situation, and your goals. You will have time to ask me any questions you may have about the therapy process and myself as a therapist. We will decide together how often we would like to meet and the direction of treatment.
"People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be". I have long held this belief, beautifully put into words by famous therapist Carl Rogers. As your therapist I am here to meet you where you are, accept you fully, and support you to make changes to better your life. I have been honored to join many people on their journeys of self discovery and found success through my curious, nonjudgmental and gently challenging approach. You are the expert in yourself and I see my role as following your lead and supporting you in your goals. I will certainly give you a nudge when you need it and I will hold you accountable but I will do so with humor and kindness to make the journey a little easier.
If you often find yourself wondering "why do I always find myself in this situation/relationship/state of mind" then I may be the therapist for you! I enjoy working with curious clients who want to better understand themselves and the world around them. I have extensive experience with individuals who struggle with compulsive and impulsive behaviors, who have experienced trauma, and who have found themselves involved in the criminal justice system. Given these professional experiences I am also well positioned to help anyone with a loved one going through such experiences. I have had many clients report feeling at ease, accepted and able to be vulnerable with me.

My approach is rooted in feminist psychodynamic theory, which means we'll explore how your past experiences, relationships, and the social and cultural forces around you (including gender, race, and power) shape your present-day thoughts and feelings. Rather than treating you as a set of symptoms to fix, this approach honors your full identity and lived context, recognizing that healing happens within relationships, including the one we build together in the therapy room. Together, we'll work to make sense of unconscious patterns while also acknowledging the very real social realities that impact your mental health, so that insight leads to genuine empowerment and change.
