Hi there! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 10 years of experience in the mental health field. I’m passionate about helping people heal and grow, especially those who’ve gone through tough or traumatic experiences. My goal is to create a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you feel truly heard and understood. I use an integrative approach to therapy, blending techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), trauma-informed care, experiential work, and person-centered therapy. That means we’ll work together to find what works best for you—because therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. I’ve had the privilege of working with teens, adults, and couples in outpatient settings, and I believe in building a strong, collaborative relationship with each client. I see you as the expert of your own life, and I’m here to support you in using your strengths to overcome challenges and move toward the life you want. I look forward to the opportunity to support you on your journey!
In our first session together, we will work on creating a therapeutic rapport and building trust within the relationship. You can expect a laid-back, non judgmental atmosphere. We will review basic, HIPAA policies, informed consents and attendance policies.
In our work together, we will identify your current challenges and clarify your short- and long-term goals—whether that's where you hope to be in a month, six months, or a year. From there, we’ll explore practical options and strategies tailored to support your progress. Each session is designed to provide greater insight into what you’re facing, along with actionable steps you can take right away. Collaboration is central to my approach, and I encourage open dialogue and mutual accountability to ensure our work remains effective and aligned with your needs.
I enjoy working with young adult and adult clients who are open to exploring their behaviors and committed to making meaningful changes in their lives. I strive to create a relaxed, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel safe, respected, and comfortable sharing their experiences.
Amanda Wirag offers therapy covered by Husky Health and Medicaid in Connecticut.
I combine an element of cognitive behavioral therapy and education to provide the patient and families with knowledge about various facets of the issues in question and treatment that is focused on a better overall outcome.
I’ve been using CBT in my practice for the past five years. It’s helped dozens of clients challenge reoccurring thoughts and manage their anxiety. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.
