Hi! I'm Nadia Jomaa and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's degree in Social Work from Florida State University. As a first-generation Arab-American growing up in Florida, I have struggled with the intersectionality of my identity and finding community. My goal is to empower my clients to embrace their various cultural backgrounds, gender identity, and sexual orientation to be their genuine selves and make space for themselves in their lives. Together we can achieve these and other goals through learning some helpful skills, but also by remaining open, curious and compassionate with ourselves.
In our first session we can cover confidentiality, get a better understanding of who you are as a person, and what you are seeking to gain from our work together. We will begin to establish what your overall goals are for yourself and our relationship. My mission is to provide safe, inclusive, affirming and individualized education and care for all my clients. I strive to help clients heal from colonialism, dismantle learned oppression from imperialist systems, and am pro-collective healing and care.
I have a special interest in helping my clients understand who they are and what they value as a person, and finding space for themselves in a world where they may not feel seen or heard. If you're struggling with unhelpful behaviors and feelings toward yourself and others, feel like your emotions are taking control, and find difficulty regulating yourself, I can help guide your path to peace.
I have some specialized interest working with women in perinatal/postpartum stages, I connect particularly well with Millennial and Gen-Z populations, and fellow first-generation Americans.
Talk therapy can be helpful, but oftentimes only gets you so far. I integrate somatic therapies (connecting with your body) to help clients heal from trauma. When the mind and body can reconsolidate experiences and show up in the same place, your nervous system will begin to feel so much more regulated.
The stories we share about our family of origin, generational cycles, and understanding our ancestry can help us unlock deeply held internalized beliefs.
Learning about our parts, ie why we do and behave the way we do, and being curious to understand how they are protecting us is an incredibly transformational way to heal deep wounds from trauma and begin building compassion and understanding with ourselves.
