The most courageous thing we can do is embrace our own stories. In the choice to embrace, we discover our strengths, weaknesses, and quirks that allow us to live our most authentic lives. We must recognize that the journey is not always pleasant. Some twists and turns may be frightening, but even in those moments, there is discovery. Oh my, what an amazing and freeing experience discovery can be. I enjoy helping individuals navigate their healing journey by providing a safe space filled with compassion, non-judgment, and authenticity. Now is the time to prioritize yourself and begin learning how to be unapologetically you!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s completely normal to feel a little nervous or unsure about what to expect. My goal in the first session is to create a safe, welcoming space where you feel heard, respected, and supported—no pressure, no judgment. Our first session is mostly about getting to know each other. I’ll ask some questions to better understand what’s bringing you in, what’s been going on in your life, and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. You’re welcome to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable—this is your space, and we go at your pace. We’ll talk about: -What prompted you to reach out for therapy now -Any past experiences with therapy (if any) -Your goals or hopes for the process -Some background information (like family, work, health, etc.) -What therapy might look like moving forward You can also ask me any questions you have about how I work, confidentiality, or what the therapy process typically involves. We’ll also go over some brief intake paperwork and talk about scheduling and logistics. By the end of the session, we’ll have a clearer picture of where to begin, and you’ll hopefully have a sense of whether I’m the right fit for you. The first session is really about building comfort and trust—this is a partnership, and we’ll shape the process together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Over the years, I’ve found that one of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard and understood. I truly believe that feeling seen and accepted is the first step toward healing, and I work hard to establish trust and openness from the very start. Another strength I bring to my practice is empathy. I strive to understand each individual’s experiences, not only through listening but also through genuinely connecting with their feelings and perspectives. I aim to meet each person where they are without rushing them or pushing for change too quickly. I’m also very solution-focused. While I believe in exploring the root causes of challenges, I enjoy helping clients identify practical tools and strategies to move forward. I find that combining reflective insight with action-oriented steps helps clients feel more empowered and hopeful about the changes they want to make. Lastly, I’m committed to continued learning. Whether through supervision, workshops, or personal growth, I make sure to stay curious and open to evolving as a therapist. This helps me offer the most effective support to my clients and stay adaptable in our work together.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Over the past 22 years as a licensed therapist, I have consistently found Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to be one of the most effective and versatile approaches in my clinical work. I have used CBT in various clinical settings — including private practice, community mental health centers, home-based agencies, and corrections — working with individuals, couples, and groups. What makes CBT especially effective is its collaborative nature. I work alongside my clients to set clear goals and regularly evaluate progress. It's empowering for clients to not only understand the "why" behind their thoughts and behaviors but also gain practical tools they can use outside of sessions.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma-Informed Care isn't a specific set of techniques, but a lens through which I recognize maladaptive patterns within client interactions. It begins with understanding that trauma can affect anyone, and it manifests in diverse ways—emotionally, physically, and relationally. In my practice, this means creating a space that prioritizes safety, trust, and empowerment. From the first session, I work to build a collaborative relationship, giving clients as much choice and voice as possible. This helps establish a sense of control—something that trauma often takes away.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-focused therapy allows clients to envision and actively work toward meaningful change—often in a surprisingly short period of time. The focus is on shifting from what's wrong to what’s possible.
