One of my favorite life mantras is a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt: "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent". Thus, I enjoy helping others embrace their power. One of the most impactful ways to do that is a change in thought process. It has such a significant influence on the way we react and the type of emotions we feel. At times, facing life's challenges can be difficult. Fortunately, you do not have to do it alone. I'll walk on the journey with you, offering a safe environment we co-create that encourages exploration and growth. If you'd like to know if I'd be a good fit on your personal journey, please feel invited to reach out!
I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in my practice as a foundation in which other treatment types are integrated. My approach is co-created with you to use either 'top down' (i.e., cognitive, brain-to-body) or 'bottom-up' (i.e., sensory, body-to-brain) processing. In your first session, we'll explore which approach works best for you.
Over the past decade, my professional journey has provided the foundation to develop specialties working with challenges of depression, anxiety, and life transitions with clients ranging from adolescence to middle adulthood. This has entailed working with at-risk youth and families, severe and persistent mental illness, as well as crisis management in settings that include outpatient/intensive outpatient, inpatient, and both school and community based. Currently, as a solo-practitioner, my practice focuses on trauma recovery, providing trauma-informed care through a cognitive, narrative and integrative approach. Most of my clients gain or enhance a comprehensive understanding of their concerns within the first month and experience gradual lifting of symptoms that deconstruct generational trauma cycles.
My passion is rooted in working with individuals who may find themselves faced with challenges such as depression, anxiety, life transitions, as well as racial trauma. Additionally, as a person of color, I am passionate and specialize working within the Black and POC community to decrease both disparities and stigma in receiving mental healthcare. Trauma can have a profound impact on your life. I'm skilled in addressing past traumas using compassionate approaches that encourage healing and growth.
