New to Grow
Hello, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Registered Play Therapist. I served 22 years in the US Army and deployed 3 times. I have a therapy dog, Apex who will be 2 years old in November, two Savanah cats and 3 sugar gliders (flying squirrels). I was born in Lexington, Ky, got my undergraduate at Eastern Kentucky University and my MA at North Alabama University.
During the first session we will go over the intake forms, talk about expectations from each other and what you would like to get from therapy. I will ask questions to ensure I am able to design a treatment tailored to your individual needs.
What makes me unique? I have served in the military for 22 years while raising children, moving multiple times, 3 deployments, and served in Germany from 1999-2008. I understand what many other therapist do not about the effects deployments can have on the spouse, children and family as a whole. I also understand from how deployments affects the service member. My main therapeutic approach is Reality Therapy because now is most revenant to the present. If needed, as therapy progresses, we may explore childhood or other periods of life that are relevant to the situation. By adapting your treatment plan to your situation, it will flow as your progress increases.
I have clients from pre-birth (pregnant mothers and their unborn babies) through senior life. I specialize in grief therapy with children and their families, has well as assist with parenting questions that many foster parents have as to how to handle certain behaviors in the children that stay with them.
Each client is unique and will need a treatment method specifically for them and their needs. Also a client’s needs and outlook often changes, therefore, the treatment method should change also
