Sometimes it can be difficult to sort out all our feelings, especially when things are messy, confusing, and overwhelming. It is my belief that everyone can benefit from counseling to process the feelings that come with human experience. Gaining greater insight into yourself can help you carry out how you want to be in the world. I received my MA in Counseling from Saint Mary's College of California in Moraga, CA. My experience at Saint Mary's grounded my therapeutic focus in Client-Centered Therapy, while also providing me with other theories and modalities to draw from in my work. I use both a holistic and family systems lens while incorporating Existential and Mindfulness-Based viewpoints in my practice. For children and adult clients who are interested, I also use Play Therapy and Expressive Arts to get in touch with how we can connect with ourselves without using words.
In our first session together, I seek to learn about you, what brings you to therapy, and why now. I will share with you how I work, along with asking you what you are looking for and hoping to gain from therapy. We will decide together how to move forward in our work together.
I provide a warm and holding environment to create the safety you need to explore both the lighter and darker parts of yourself. I provide you compassion when you cannot access it yourself and help you to start cultivating it for yourself.
I love working with people trying to find their place in the world, striving to see where they fit and how they can use their unique gifts to contribute to the world. Whether you're young, an established adult, or starting a new phase of life, I enjoy helping people find greater meaning in their lives and connect more deeply with themselves and those around them.
At the foundation of my practice is forming a strong therapeutic relationship with you. I believe the quality of our relationship is the basis of what can lead to healing and allows you a safe space to be your authentic self. My goal is to create that safe space for you so you can explore more vulnerably and diver into yourself more deeply.
While my work is grounded in having a strong client-based practice, I weave in many modalities, including the following: Attachment-Based, Family Systems, Psychodynamic, Mindfulness-Based, Existential, Holistic, ISF, Play Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Care. I find that drawing from many approaches provides a more tailored approach to you and your needs. I also share imagery and metaphors as a way to conceptualize your experiences as I find sometimes words are not enough. I will also strive to help you cultivate greater self-compassion for yourself because I find that most of the time we are our own worst enemies. Reaching out to befriend ourselves can be a wonderful way to ground in ourselves and live more authentically.
