In our first session together, here's what you can expect

We begin our process with a brief, complimentary consultation before your first formal Intake session. This time is dedicated to ensuring a mutual fit—it's a chance for us to understand your goals and for you to connect with the therapist who will be your partner on this journey. This initial conversation gives you the opportunity to feel confident and comfortable with your choice before we begin our work together. Following our consultation, your first session is a collaborative deep dive. Together, we will have a detailed conversation to better understand your experiences and identify the key areas you wish to focus on. Based on this shared understanding, we will create your personalized treatment plan. This plan isn't a rigid document; it's a dynamic roadmap for our time together, providing a clear point of reference for our mutual goals and the meaningful change you are ready to initiate.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What truly sets our therapeutic approach apart is our commitment to a deeply personalized and responsive process. We begin by honoring the profound influence of cultural diversity and individual values, recognizing that these are essential components of every client's unique story. Our therapeutic methods are not one-size-fits-all. We strategically integrate a range of evidence-based approaches—from the deep insight of psychodynamic therapy to the practical, skill-building focus of CBT and the collaborative, client-driven spirit of Motivational Interviewing. This comprehensive toolkit allows us to tailor every session to your specific needs. To ensure we are always moving toward your goals, we routinely and collaboratively monitor your progress. We openly share our findings and, if needed, flexibly modify our approach to ensure your treatment plan remains a dynamic and effective roadmap. This unwavering commitment to a responsive and culturally sensitive partnership is how we empower you to achieve lasting, meaningful change.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

We are best positioned to serve high-functioning adults (age 21 and older) who are ready to engage in a collaborative and insightful therapeutic journey. Our practice is ideally suited for individuals who are not experiencing current or historical crises such as self-harm or suicidal ideation, and who are seeking to proactively address mood dysregulation, life stressors, and challenging behavioral patterns. We are a great fit for clients who want to not only build practical coping skills (like those taught in CBT) but also explore the deeper, unconscious patterns that influence their lives (through a psychodynamic lens). Our approach is for those who are motivated to grow and are open to a flexible, patient-centered process (using principles from Motivational Interviewing). If you are an adult seeking a supportive and collaborative space to initiate lasting change and gain a deeper understanding of yourself, we are here to help. Services are provided in English and Farsi.

My treatment methods

Psychodynamic

Psychodynamic therapy is a profound journey of self-discovery that helps you explore the connections between your past and your present. It goes beyond surface-level symptoms to uncover the root causes of recurring patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and relationships. Through this process, you will gain a new perspective on why these patterns exist. This insight is not just intellectual; it creates a psychological distance that empowers you to move away from unhelpful habits and make more conscious, fulfilling choices. Patients often find this work not only improves their internal world but also positively transforms their relationships. By understanding how your personal history influences your interactions, you can become a more effective communicator and build stronger connections. This therapy is a meaningful investment in long-term psychological health. It provides a lasting framework for self-reflection and equips you with the tools to navigate life's challenges with greater clarity, resilience, and a more authentic sense of self.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a practical, goal-oriented approach to treatment that helps you gain control over your well-being. It is based on a simple but powerful idea: our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all interconnected. By learning to change one of these, you can positively influence the others. In CBT, you and your therapist will work together as a team. You will identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns that may be contributing to your distress. At the same time, you'll learn and practice new, healthy behaviors and coping skills to improve your daily life. This process is active, with specific tools and assignments to help you apply what you learn in sessions to your everyday challenges. CBT provides you with a set of tangible skills for managing stress, solving problems, and navigating difficult emotions. It is a collaborative process that empowers you to become your own therapist, giving you the lasting tools to foster a healthier and more resilient life.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a collaborative and compassionate approach that empowers you to find your own motivation for change. It is based on the belief that you already hold the wisdom and resources needed to make positive shifts in your life. In this method, your therapist acts as a non-judgmental guide, listening deeply and asking thoughtful questions to help you explore your own reasons for change. This process is especially effective when you feel conflicted or uncertain about a goal. We will work together to clarify your values, resolve any ambivalence, and build your confidence to move forward. MI is an empowering experience that honors your autonomy and expertise in your own life. It is a powerful way to discover your personal "why" and to create a clear path toward the life you want, driven entirely by your own intentions and readiness.
